Philosophy Of Life
"What is life?" is a common question. It is also one of the most important questions humans must continually ask throughout their existence. How we perceive life affects the way we live our lives. And how we react to life changes the way we perceive and experience life itself. philosophical and religious debate regarding the nature of life continues to this day.

The meaning of life as see it is largely derived from religious and philosophical reflection on, and questions about, life, consciousness, human relationships, and happiness. Philosophical arguments about the nature of life generally have two basic positions: Dualistic or Monist view, and Naturalistic or Pantheism view. In the dualistic view, everything that exists is part of a larger whole; whereas in the pantheistic view, everything is god and nothing exists independently. In both philosophies, the purpose of life is to find meaning in life, and experience pleasure and happiness as a result.

The purposes of life can be attributed to Divine intervention, or can be discovered through science and technology. There is strong evidence that some things in the universe were created by God, such as people, and in some cases technology was designed by God to enhance life. Science generally tries to verify the truth of God's purposes for life, especially in the realm of philosophy. A popular argument in philosophy is the argument from design. Many scientists argue that certain kinds of life are very common because they were "designed" by God to exist.

This argument is an attempt to prove that there is a purpose for life, a reason why a person should be alive, an end to something, an end to a process, and so on. The science and technology involved in this kind of philosophy attempt to prove that life is "natural" and unimportant to its creator. A person may look at life in this way, but others who are more "spiritual" view life differently. Spiritual people believe that life has a purpose and significance beyond what science and technology can ever explain.

In order to understand the purpose of life, one must first explore science and technology. Science and technology are tools used to try to answer the big question of life: what is life? Through scientific research and experimentation, scientists have been able to define different types of living organisms and their ability to survive. Through this research and experimentation scientists have learned how to manipulate life, develop it, make it grow, reproduce, heal, and adapt to its surroundings.

This knowledge has opened up the possibility for a person to choose what he wants to focus on, to design his own life. The choice depends on how a person values his own life, his desires, his intelligence, his talents, his personality, his character, his education, his interests, and other factors. Some people have a strong religious faith and base their whole life philosophy around the idea of a higher power. Other people base their philosophy on the idea that all life is sacred, that there is a purpose for everything that happens, that some things are beyond the comprehension of man, that man's place in the world is as unique as the dog's place in the park. Still other philosophers believe that life is meaningless, that it's all a game, that there is no such thing as a purpose in life.

On the other hand, science and technology have helped us greatly change the way we experience life. By using advanced tools and apparatus we can see into the past and future, we can determine the structure of the universe and the makeup of other planets and stars, we can map the human brain, measure body size, take stock of all our national resources, evaluate the quality of health care provided, examine the quality of the water supply, chart the rate of pollution, analyze the impact of international terrorism and prepare for possible future terrorist attacks. We have literally changed the way people live and the way they experience life. We have created new technologies, enriched our life experiences, and we have made the universe and life itself around us. Science has in fact become the most important part of our lives.

How different would life be if there were no science, in philosophy and the ideas it contains were only the ideas of clever people sitting in ivory towers? In fact, the ideas and philosophies of life will remain unchanged as long as people have the need to understand, to learn, to test and to examine the world around them and their experience in it. If people want to live in a vacuum without a history, without philosophy, then life itself would be a vacuum, a living hell for humans. But because people have examined life, because they have had personal experience and they are willing to stand back, they have opened the door to a much more expansive and rich experience of life.
