- Overall there is strength in the AUD, EUR, with minor strength in USD. Weakness in the CAD, GBP, NZD, CHF, JPY. 

- Oil prices surged on lower-than-expected decline in US crude inventories. Nymex crude futures settled $1.95 higher at $68.47 a barrel.

- USD/JPY has posted small gains in the Wednesday session. In North American trade, USD/JPY is trading at 107.15, up 0.13% on the day. On the release front, there are no key US events. The markets will be listening to speeches from FOMC members John Williams and Randal Quarles.

- US dollar strengthened against most major currencies for a second session, boosted by expectations of further interest rate increases by the US Federal Reserve.

- The recent trade battle between the US and China has been overshadowed by events in Syria, but the threat of further tariffs between the world’s largest two economies could again roil the markets and in turn, send gold prices higher.

- EUR/USD is trading within a bullish channel with the key support at 1.2370. Currently, it is at levels around the 20- and 50-period moving averages. 

- RSI is below the neutrality level of 50, showing a lack of upward momentum. Unless the key support at 1.2370 is breached, the intraday remains bullish, and a return to 1.2395 on the upside is expected. Alternatively, a break below 1.2370 would trigger a further decline toward 1.2355 on the downside.

- On the data slate there’s UK Retail Sales; US Initial Jobless Claims; US Continuing Claims; US Philadelphia Fed Business Outlook and US Leading Index.
