Today is a sad day!

Dear Steemit Friends,

Today I lost someone special in my life. Although life is fleeting and always has an end, no single person can cope with the loss and passing of a loved one. In this case it was one of my four yorkies. The 3rd oldest and the baby of my two oldest yorkies and older sister to our adopted youngest yorkie.

You may have noticed that I said I lost someone rather then "something", and I'm sure most dog owners will agree, because to most of us, our pets are a special member of our family and just as prescious to us as our actual human children. For the past ten years this cute little round bundle of joy and cuteness named Kaycee has been a loving part of my family.

I did not want to write this post, and had many other things to write about for a daily topic, but because I wanted the memory of Kaycee to be stored somewhere forever, I thought I should in order to pay tribute to the hapiness she brought to my families life.

Kaycee's Story
Kaycee was born 10 years years ago to our oldest two Yorkies Cole and China. She was one of two baby pups born prematurely and the single survivor of the two. Her mother went into labor and at midnight and at the time in Manila there wasn't a 24 hour pet hospital available so we had to worry and wait until morning before anyone could deliver. The two puppies were not coming out naturally and because of the mother's small size was very difficult for her to deliver naturally.

We drove to the hospital and waited for them to open and immediately the mother was taken in for a cesarean delivery. It was touch and go, but finally both pups were delivered, but only one was fully developed. Kaycee at birth was almost half the size of her mother and had to be incubated for a couple of days to make sure she was healthy. She was my miracle baby.

From the day i took her home, I never let her out of site and spoiled her to death. I built her a complex so her mother could nurse her and keep her warm and because I am a techie at heart I even setup a cctv monitoring system so I could watch her all day and night. I was so paranoid and protective that most of the first 3 months I worked from home and didnt leave the house until she was fully vaccinated. Anyone coming and going I made sure washed their hands and feet with watered down clorox to kill any bacteria and protect against any parvo and puppy related viruses pre-vaccinations.

I admit, I probably over-spoiled her, but she was "my little girl" and would do anything to make sure she had a great and happy life.

For the past ten years, Kaycee, has made us one of the happiest "parents" by just being the cutest and most loving puppies I have ever owned. That is not to say that she is my favorite, but she was definitely special to me. I remember the cute little squeeky noises she made everytime she wanted something - usually food and her little baby face that she would knowingly use to guilt everyone into paying attention to her or feeding her.

Because she was a mix of a fluffy curly haired yorkie and a silky straight haired yorkie of varying colors, she had a unique and amazingly soft coat. You could not help but want to hug and squeeze her and never let her go. She loved to be carried and she loved to cuddle.

Like most dogs, she had many unique sleeping positions and often times preferred to sleep where she could get the most warmth, whether it was between your legs, in a crak between pillows, and her favorite - on a fluffy pillow above your head.

She was taken from us way before her time and I can't say enough how much I will miss Kaycee, but I'm hopeful that she is in a better place and happy with the life she lived. She definitely made my life worth living and I will always cherish her in my heart forever.

Thanks you for taking the time to read and honor her memory.

Rest in Peace Kaycee - I will love your forever and see you again someday!

A poem from my wife to Kacey
