The Major Behaviors We All Resist
Let's start with an obvious one, money. Money is probably the easiest habit to fight, as it is the basis for everything else. To resist the need to earn more money is to resist the need to enjoy more out of life. How does this make you feel?
As parents, we are constantly stressing the importance of being a good example. We tell our children all the time that they must earn their own way through high school and college and that they cannot rely on the government for help. These are not lies, but the truth. Government help should not be looked at as a privilege, but as a responsibility of survival. We can do our part to help ourselves, by earning more and saving more.

There is another habit that some of us have trouble with. This one is named, self-esteem. A person's self-esteem is a very big part of who they are. Most people don't like their lives to be buffeted by small, frequent failures. By having high self-esteem, we feel that we have control over the world and that we do not owe anyone any allegiance.

Having a consistent pattern of success helps boost this habit. Instead of always trying to impress people with our intelligence or skills, we learn to produce our own presentations. If there is something we don't like about ourselves, we simply ignore it. We tell ourselves that it is no big deal. That, of course, doesn't stop others from making fun of us, or from thinking that we don't matter.

Self-esteem, like self-reliance, is something that we can cultivate in ourselves. We just need to take the time to do so. The most effective habit we can begin taking is learning to say no to some of the habits that we resist. One of these habits is procrastination. Once we begin to practice saying no, it becomes an automatic habit.

Another habit that we have trouble with is prioritizing. Most of us put too much importance on things that are relatively trivial. We get sidetracked and lose sight of the bigger picture. By focusing on the more important aspects of life, we can work on developing these habits.

Some people have the habit of asking themselves what they want. Instead of spending the time they need to think things through, they just impulsively choose the first thing that comes to mind. When this happens, their energy level is drained, and they are very uncomfortable. They then turn to a more passive form of procrastination: they just choose not to do anything. This habit, when it gets going, can really hurt you.

There are habits that we are prone to, and habits that we can work on eliminating. For example, one habit that many of us have is resisting change. As humans, it is very difficult to get out of our comfort zone. If we want to be successful, however, it is important for us to be open to changes. Doing so will not only make life easier, but it will also make us more successful.

Another habit that we have is perfectionism. This habit is probably the most common one among all the habits listed. People with this habit feel like they need to be perfect, and if they aren't, then there is something wrong with them. It can take a lot of work to keep yourself from sabotaging your own efforts.

Controlling your anger is a habit that is often a hard thing to do. However, if you are aware of why you do it, then you can control it. For example, if you know that you are prone to anger because you once suffered from abuse as a child, then you can do exercises to make sure that you don't get angry at things that shouldn't anger you anymore. This is, in fact, a habit that you can change. But first, you have to recognize that you have a problem.

Being afraid of change is a habit that can be hard to break. We all want to grow and change, but sometimes our fear of doing so gets in the way. For instance, if you grew up afraid of taking risks for the potential, you likely will be afraid of taking risks now. Change can be scary, but that doesn't mean that you should be afraid of making the change either. Instead, you need to recognize the good that will come out of the change and be willing to let it happen. You might even find that it is the only thing standing between you and success.

One of the most difficult habits to break is self-esteem. Most people, regardless of what they accomplish, think that they are worth something. They treat themselves as though they were the best person alive, and that they are better off than everyone else. The problem is that, usually, they are not. By recognizing this habit, you can avoid sabotaging your efforts by developing a better understanding of who you are.
