I've already been pretty wealthy when I was young.
Not your kind of wealth, Vlad, you understand, but certainly more than enough to never really have to work again.

L: So, with my wealth, I had _power_. I had influence in my world, and quite a lot of it relatively speaking.
But with that power, that wealth, came more and more friction with authorities, in various ways. From local government officials to law enforcement, to lawyers, to banks.
I'd built up my defenses against having no money, but the price for this was more and more interactions with authority.
The increased interactions _decreased_ my happiness in life.
So while my economic defenses left me materially more secure, the very defenses I had built up were costing me more to maintain, than the benefits of having them.
I know I could never win in the 'authoritarian game', for to do so would mean to get to the top, just like you have, but seeing as power and money are not my gigs - to _not play_ was the only way to win, which means to opt out of the wealth and asset accumulation 'hamster wheel' game.
You're either at the _very top_ of the this ladder like you Vlad, or not on the ladder at all. Both of these are the only places where a modicum of freedom exists.
If you're just at some point _on the ladder_, then you're under someone else's authority.
Thinking on my feet with less 'static' economic defenses means having to deal with less bullshit, less dealing with with stupid authoritarians. (sorry vlad, please don't shoot me - I didn't mean you, honest)
