This is a really interesting story. For me this encapsulates so many of the current issues of the day. The freedom of the press and safety of journalists is a huge issue but I agree with you questioning why is this such a big story **and...** why is Turkey of all countries making this a big issue, what is their record on press freedom? The truth as you say is that once again this comes down to geopolitics once again. My question is what is Turkey's motivation here? 
Thanks for the content and keeping the independent media alive despite the difficulties you are facing in doing so.
