THE LEDGE…

<center>*The Ledge...*</center>
<br>Born to be free
and bred to exceed
genes of a champion
the very seed.

Ambition and purpose
trophies and success
were part of his life
he was always the best.

Glory and grandeur
were part of the past
living in his mind
torturing the soul.

Doubtful and frail
he'd fallen so far
lost in a darkness
desolation and despair.

Life as the charmed
coddled and privileged 
abundant riches --
was all that he knew.

Alone in the thunder
trapped in the rain
lost in thought
helpless to refrain.

Regret grew strong
the fear so loud
blinding the foresight
he was born to bare.

Living in a dungeon
so high in the air
remorseful and solemn
lack of any care.

Resigned to a future
he'd renounce and forswear
flying too high
forgetting how to fall.

Somber and mournful 
listing the good
touching the sunshine
embraced by the wind.

If all this is destined
life just a game -- 
how could he wind-up
*standing on this ledge…*
