In this report, I cover the early market action from London On Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019. I look briefly at the precious metals, the stock market, the dollar, the bond market and the price of WTI and Brent crude oil.

We have seen some interesting headlines over the last 24 hours concerning geopolitics and Central Banking and some commentators have attributed them to the sharp rebound in the gold price after the pullback we saw on Monday back down to around $1380.

Personally, I think the move in gold is more related to what is happening in the bond markets and how that market is pointing to the Federal Reserve and other Central Banks reverting back to their reckless monetary policy of zero or even negative interest rates and money printing or QE.

We have heard that President Trump has nominated a Sound Money advocate, Judy Shelton, to one of the Federal Reserve's board openings. My conclusion from this is that it does not mean we will see a Gold Standard reinstated or the Fed's power weakened right away but that at least it could potentially bring about more debate about our current monetary arrangements.
