I was at a Kaiser Chiefs concert on Saturday night and witnessed something I have never seen before from a major act.

### <center>The Venue</center>

The open air theatre in Scarborough is the largest of its kind in Europe and has a long history dating back to 1932. The stage is on an island in a lake.

It originally hosted musicals and plays but is now the venue for concerts.

Hard standing that reaches right up to the stage was recently built for standing crowds.

After two very good supporting acts - New York Kids and Clean Cut Crew, the Kaiser Chiefs made their appearence.

They performed all the favourites including 'Ruby' and 'I Predict a Riot'.

During the performance, the Chiefs lead singer and front man, Ricky Wilson,  delighted the audience by jumping off the stage and moving to a small platform that had been erected some distance from the stage.

This part had obviously been planned in advance. What followed next though was probably a spur of the moment thing by Ricky that must have given his security people nightmares that night.

Ricky jumped off the temporary platform, lifted up the security fencing and made his way up into the stands. Apologies for the poor quality photo here.

He then made his way through the crowd allowing people to take photos and high fiving. This lasted a good few minutes and then he made his way back down again to the front stage area.

Just as his security started to breathe a little easier he then detoured off and started a conga line with the crowd before returning to the stage. Again apologies for the poor quality (I really must invest in a better phone!)

A great performance from the Kaiser Chiefs and Ricky's run into the crowd made for a memorable evening.
