Marriage is one of the most important decisions in everyone’s life, just like our career decisions which shape our future. Even marriage decision somehow shapes our future. 

Marriage is not only about those wedding outfits, set of jewellery or parting with friends and family. Marriage is about the commitment of two people for their entire lives, who are not willing to give up on each other during any phase of life.

Marriage is also not a guarantee of love and happy life. Marriage and lovers are byproducts of love and love is dependant on commitment. Commitment in turn rests on the three foundational pillars of trust, understanding and support.

# Better Half?

Often we hear people saying things like ‘he/she is my better half’. So, you mean you are incomplete in yourself? Think again. How can one incomplete person complete someone else?

There is a saying “All relationships are a reflection of your relationship with yourself”. So, one needs to be complete in him/her self, we don’t need other person to complete us. Two incomplete people can’t make a relationship work for long.

What we need to do instead is love ourself first and actually be the love that we deserve, so that we are able to do the same with our partner without the need to expect much in return. That way both will add more value in each others’ lives. Those are the kind of people that enhance each others’ lives, no matter what phase of life they are in. 

# Separation Is Not The Answer

Separation is never the solution to any problem. If something goes wrong in our life, we should try to solve it, we don’t just run from it or ignore it. Then why do we leave our loved ones?

There is an old saying “When something is broken we should fix it, not throw it away”. But in the real world, we see the opposite happening more often than not.

If something is not working in your marriage (or even in any other relationship), you need to put aside your egos, and sit together and work it out. Don’t throw something that is precious away.

After all, we don’t change our parents or our brothers or sisters when things don’t work out with them, do we? We accept them as they are. So, why do it with the love of you life? Look before you leap.
