# Nuestra Señora de las Angustias</center>

*Nuestra Señora de las Angustias* o simplemente *Virgen de las Angustias*, es una advocación mariana que se venera en diversas ciudades españolas. Se suele representar por la típica escena de la Madre Dolorosa: la Virgen de rodillas, cubierta con un amplio manto sobre un traje rojo, que sostiene por la cabeza a su Hijo. 

Al igual que otras apariciones marianas, ésta también goza de una piadosa leyenda alrededor de su aparición, la cual habría ocurrido a finales del Siglo XVI, cuando unos hermanos se encontraban pescando en el estero de San Bartolomé, en aguas portuguesas. Al finalizar la faena, descubrieron con sorpresa en sus redes,  una caja de enorme peso, que contenía en su interior una hermosa imagen de la Virgen con su hijo Jesús en los brazos, tras lo cual, dieron aviso a las autoridades civiles y eclesiásticas de la región.

Esta imagen se encuentra en el ala derecha de la **Iglesia Inmaculada Concepción**, ubicada en el Casco Central de Barquisimeto, y el cual sería el primer templo religioso construido en la ciudad, siendo en sus inicios, una humilde capilla de bahareque y techo de paja, hasta la estructura actual que data de alrededor de 1853, luego de haber quedado reducida a ruinas al sufrir los embates de los terremotos que sacudieron la región en los años 1736 y 1812.

La fotografía original fue tomada a color. Posteriormente, la modifiqué haciendo uso de la aplicación **PicsArt**, empleando una superposición de filtros, comenzando con un filtro del tipo HDR (High Dynamic Range) con la finalidad de ampliar los tonos de la imagen original, y luego un filtro sencillo de Blanco & Negro, un procedimiento que ya he usado con anterioridad en otras publicaciones. </div>

*Our Lady of Sorrows* or simply *Virgin of Sorrows*, is a Marian invocation that is venerated in various Spanish cities. It is usually represented by the typical scene of the Sorrowful Mother: the Virgin on her knees, covered with a broad cloak over a red suit, which holds her Son by the head.

Like other Marian apparitions, it also enjoys a pious legend around its appearance, which would have occurred at the end of the 16th century, when brothers were fishing in the estuary of San Bartolomé, in Portuguese waters. At the end of the task, they discovered with surprise in their networks, a box of enormous weight, which contained inside a beautiful image of the Virgin with her son Jesus in her arms, after which they gave notice to the civil and ecclesiastical authorities of the region.

This image is located on the right wing of the **Immaculate Conception** Church, located in the Downtown of Barquisimeto, and which would be the first religious temple built in the city, being in its beginnings, a humble bahareque chapel and Thatched roof, until the current structure dating from around 1853, after being reduced to ruins after suffering the attacks of earthquakes that shook the region in the years 1736 and 1812.

The original photograph was taken in color. Later, I modified it using the **PicsArt** application, using a filter overlay, starting with an HDR (High Dynamic Range) type filter in order to expand the tones of the original image, and then a simple filter de Blanco & Negro, a procedure that I have previously used in other publications.</div>
