Authorities of the World Health Organization (WHO) have evaluated the virus that can infect humans, resulting in the introduction of aedes-type mosquitoes. Commenting on the matter, WHO Director-General Margaret Chan said that after the evidence was sighted, the neurological complications of the committee and the gathering of microcephaly posed an unusual case and a threat to public health for the rest of the world. Emphasizing that there are many precautions that pregnant women can take to protect the virus, Chan said that one of them was to postpone their travels. Chan said pregnant women could use a mosquito repellent if they needed to go on a trip, and that they would be able to consult a doctor and wear long sleeved clothes and trousers as a personal precaution. Health officials noted that it could take 6-9 months to prove that there is a link between the microcephaly (small head) cases of babies born in Brazil and the Zika virus.
