<p><strong>The Rose and the Amaranth<br></strong> <br> Astoundingly you’ve blossomed <br> and flawlessly your sepals<br> arrange to make your petals<br> their prepossessing crown.<br>  <br> To a stalk you will be withered <br> but shall endure the winter,<br> like royalty long lives<br> through memories of old.<br>  <br> Once more your pistils new<br> will fill with tempting pollen <br> the air of springs and summers,<br> which shine with pristine youth.<br>  <br> My Rose, my dearest blossom,<br> the Amaranth is true,<br> for beauty stays undying<br> and sweetness lives for good.<br>

<p style="text-align:left">Such is the moral written at the end in Easop’s Fable “The Rose and the Amaranth,” where the latter expresses its envy of the Rose’s “beauty and sweet scent.” However, the Roses educates the Amaranth well: “Ah, my dear friend, I bloom but for a short time: my petals will soon wither and fall, and then I must die. But your flowers never fade, even when they are cut; for they are everlasting.” With that in mind, I sat down and composed this piece.</p>
