Après avoir quitté le Mexique, nous voulions rejoindre le Guatemala le plus rapidement possible. Le Belize est très cher et nous avons décidé de traverser le pays en une journée!

Pour gagner du temps, on a choisi de ne pas suivre la route mais de couper par la jungle. Evidement, nous nous sommes perdu... La nuit est tombée et nous avons roulé au clair de lune. La jungle peut être silencieuse la journée, mais la nuit c'est une autre histoire... Entre le singes qui hurlent et tous les prédateurs qui rodent, ça peut vite rendre la situation stressante. D'ailleurs niveau stress, tout peut empirer quand tu vois tes deux amis s'envoler et s'écraser devant toi à cause d'une pente abrupte. Et là, c'est la panique!

Au final, ce raccourci nous a prit 5h de plus que prévu. Nous sommes sorti de la jungle à 2h du matin direction l'hôpital ! Une épreuve éprouvante mais très excitante!

After leaving Mexico, we wanted to go to Guatemala as fast as possible. Belize is very expensive, so we decided to cross the country in a day.

In order to save time, we chose not to follow the road but to go through the jungle. Obviously, we got lost. The night fell so we drove with the moonlight. The jungle can be quiet during the day, but at night it’s another story… Between the monkeys that are howl and the other predators that lurk, the situation can become rapidly stressful. Talking about stress, it can also get worse when you see both your friends taking off, flying and landing in front of you because of a steep slope. And then, it’s panic!

After all, this shortcut took 5 more hours than planned. We left the jungle at 2 am and went straight to the hospital. An exhaustive but incredible experience!
