The reality is when people are involved in an exchange of goods somehow the government will want a piece of the action. Natural human greed. There are plenty of benefits to know who is exchanging a ton of crypto such as money laundering and using crypto to purchase illegal goods.  Yet the whole idea of anonymity is out the window as human greed takes hold in some form. This will always be the case no matter what as likely nf as humans use crypto or another form of currency.
