# Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
John 6:47-48
There are no half- truths, no gray areas, and certainly no middle grounds when dealing with God’s Truth. Sadly, If we have gone off tangent with a portion of the truth, it therefore means we have progressively erred from and have strayed far from reality. Only the Spirit of Truth can help with course correction.
2 Timothy 3:16 says “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” I like this scripture because it lets us know what we must do with the Word, both as ministers of the gospel and children of the Word. I would like to deal with the last three words today – 'the instruction in righteousness'. The word 'instruction' from the original text is a compound word meaning to instruct, correct, teach, reproof, educate, chastise, discipline; it is the totality of what one does to nurture and groom a student. It entails and includes training, building and educating an individual. But this must be done in the context of righteousness.
Righteousness by the way is not only a way of life or living. It is also God’s nature. Therefore, His children must be instructed, trained, educated in the mannerisms of God. We must learn and walk as He does under each and every circumstance; replicating His righteous lifestyle and judgement. We are called to be imitators of Christ, who is the express image of God. If the church is fractured along doctrinal lines, it tells we already have a huge problem, because Jesus was not that way.
The instruction in righteousness is too important to be left in the hands of any uncircumcised heart because is deals with the core of who God is and who we are. It reveals how we must walk daily in the midst of a crooked and perverse world, amongst whom we shine as light (righteousness) in this world.
**Why we all needs to grow spiritually**
Man is primarily a spirit, he has a soul and lives within a body of clay. Man is personally responsible for the development of his spirit, soul and body. His body craves for a type of food in order to grow, and his spirit needs a different type of nutrition. We must ensure we pay close attention to the needs of the spirit and feed him adequately. Read further!
2 Cor 3:18 from the KJV "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." The Lord has shown us from the scriptures what must be done in order to fulfill God's plan for humanity; that we may grow up into the image of Christ, which is God's dream for us.
God isn't Santa Claus, who doles our gifts willy-nilly, He has put in place spiritual laws to govern His creation. The verse above outlines what we must do for the transformation to take effect. When we do our part, God does His!
Let's start with the first few words, with an open face, or rather an unbiased mind, we are to look into the perfect law of liberty. God's promise, we will gradually become the true image of God. But we must look with an unbiased mind, failing to do that means the growth, while progressive, is skewed already.
So, leave behind all preconceived notions and embrace the simple gospel.
**This is how simple it is through Christ**
In the physical world, growth is a naturally occurring phenomenon. If you eat the correct meal, cellular division will occur and growth results – physical growth. But intellectual growth is something entirely different. It requires a different set of rules. There are people who have grown in stature but have failed to exercise their intellectual prowess. This also happens in the spirit realm.
One may have been to every group meeting, even led all. The individual may have memorized Bible verses but may have never, in all their years in the assembly of the saints, been acquainted with the Spirit of the author and the mind of the Lord. That is sad!
Let's read something, Amos 6:1 “woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!” Is the Lord against being at ease? The answer to that question is both “yes” and “no”. Why is this prophet saying this, he goes on to say in the latter part of verse 6 “…but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph” Precious Spirit of Grace!
The Lord is against complacency, indifference, etc, to the yearnings of His heart. A few individuals hear the Father's heart and even fewer respond. It is the call that time is soon gone. How have we lived His life? What have we ‘spent’ our time on? Were we in pursuit of His righteous purpose, or did we ‘spend’ the time in search of our own agenda. When we hear of all the terrible atrocities perpetrated by enemy, do we intercede, or are we at ease trusting in the mount of Samaria (a mount where God no longer dwells). Jesus spent long hours praying for others, including us. Are we still comfortable with the ‘bless me prayers' or are we focused on fulfilling the Father's desire?
