*Daddy-Bear, the water is not working properly?*

The *Good Lady* stood by the tap at the kitchen sink, staring at the slow trickle of water pouring out into the sink.

I waltzed up to where she stood with a cocky swagger as if my pants were full of wriggly gerbils.

*Looks watery to me?*

I said with a handsome cock of my head.

*It's the pressure, it's coming out really slowly.*

The *Good Lady* grumpily pointed at the trickle of water.

I peered a little more closely at it with my *man-vision.* It looked like she might be right.

*Do you think that thing in the attic needs adjusting again?*

The Good Lady said innocently.

The blood in my veins froze and my hulking great testicles pulled up their skirts and attempted to flee up into my belly.

*The tank you mean? In the attic space?*

I said carefully. 

*Yeah! Didn't you have to do something last year?*

The Good Lady asked brightly.

*Um, yeah. Might have done. I think.*

There was no might have done about it. I remembered full well the horror of that day last year. The darkness, the things that lurked in there. Crazy flashes of light and of course... the screaming.

*Can you hop up and work your magic then?*

The Good Lady asked, waggling her fingers in a magician-like way.

*Yeah, of course. It will be no bother.*

I said with only the slightest tremor to my voice.

*It will be no bother...*

What the fuck? Was I nuts? I shook my head as I wiggled further forward into the attic space. My torch splashed the tight passage around me with its bright white light yet at the edges the shadows still danced just out of reach. 

My attic has been converted into a room which means that at the sides, the eaves as they are called, there is a narrow space that runs the length of the house on each side. It is narrow, musty and pitch-black. 

I have to belly wriggle the entire length in a narrow, confining passageway to get to the water tank whilst *things* skitter and click and hiss around me. 

My common sense tells me that there is nothing really there. It's just a dry old attic space. 

My common sense wins the day right up until I get to the water tank. It's an old thing and has a couple of old valve'y type bits at the side which seem to control the water flow. Every year I have to loosen them a bit at the start of winter.

As I finish giving the outlet valve a little loosen, *something* drops from the ceiling and lands on my head.

I jerked upright, or as upright as I could in the narrow space. My torch flailed about making it look like Sad Franks Disco as I screamed and clawed at the thing that had landed on me. 

My sudden movements dislodged some more things and what seemed like a handful of dust and worms fell on the side of my face. I screamed louder and thrashed about trying to reverse toward the little hatch that I entered. 

Something else fell across my back and I screamed louder and louder but of course...

 ***In the attic space, no-one can hear you scream...***

Sometime later I arrived back in the kitchen and turned on the tap. The water flowed much more freely now.  The Good Lady came in and seeing it, did an excited little hop.

*Oh excellent work Daddy-Bear!! Was it easy enough then?*

She said, her eyes gleaming.

I looked at her, my own screams still echoing back and forth in my head.

*Yeah, it was a doddle.*
