This is the story of a magic cow that lived long ago in a small village. Jack and Harry were living in the same village with big farms and several cows. However they both were farmers, they didn’t ever devoted time in their work. They always employed some professional farmers to work on their fields and grow crops. Despite having big houses and costly clothes, Jack and Harry were not satisfied with what they had.

They decided to increase the number of farmers on their farms so that employed farmers could grow huge amount of crops to earn more money for them, because they wanted to build a big palace made of jewels. A poor farmer named Thomas was living in the same locality with a cow. Unlike Jack and Harry, Thomas had small place to live. One day Jack and Harry informed Thomas about a man who was selling his cow. They asked him “would you like to buy it? Thomas said I didn’t have sufficient money to buy another cow”. Jack and Harry said “I can lend you money if you want to buy it”. But Thomas didn’t show his interest in that cow, because if he would have done so he would have to borrow money everyday.

Thomas was not like Jack and Harry. Being hard worker, he would devote most of his time on the field to harvest crop. End of the day, he would come back home with his cow and feed her. Thomas was happy with what he had and never wanted to get more, while Jack and Harry was surprised to see him happy which made them jealous of Thomas. Jack and Harry thought that his cow could be the reason of his happiness. Thomas’s cow was more efficient than the cows that Jack and Harry had. And so they decided to buy Thomas’s cow. They offered 10 silver coins to Thomas for his cow. The amount was enough to buy two cows, but Thomas rejected the offer. According to Jack and Harry, the deal was good for Thomas, but he said that his cow was healthy and he was able to manage food for her. So he would not sell the cow.

Due to Thomas rejection, Jack and Harry were so angry and they decided to force him to sell his cow. Without thinking about Thomas, they burned the whole crops. The next day when Thomas got the news and arrived on the spot, he found his crops were completely destroyed. Days passed and his stored food came to end. Thomas had nothing to eat. Not only that, he was not even able to manage food for his cow. So he decided to sell the cow.

Thomas took his all savings that he made for a long time effort and left his home for another village to sell his cow. He had to go through the forest. So he tied the pouch of silver coins to the cows bail for security reasons. He thought the money would be safe in case a thief attack him for money. Then he saw a village after moving for a while. He stopped there to rest for some time. In search of water, he moved away by leaving the cow under a shed. When the owner of a shop of roses and grains located nearby the shed came out for a walk, he saw the cow standing under the shed. As he was going closer the shed, the cow turned towards him and then the shop owner saw a silver coin fell from the cow’s neck. He was surprised to see the silver coin. To know the fact, he decided to reach closer the cow. As he started moving towards her, he saw another coin falling from her neck.

The shop owner didn’t follow the pouch of silver coins which was tied to the cow’s bell. He thought she was a magic cow and decided to buy the cow so that he could get the coins. When Thomas came back there, the shop owner asked him whether he wanted to sell the cow for 500 silver coins. Thomas accepted the deal and took 500 silver coins from the shop owner. Thomas forgot his pouch of silver coins tied to the cow’s bell and came back his home. He was so happy with the deal. When Thomas reached his home he saw Jack and Harry both were waiting for him. They were surprised to see a big smile on the face of Thomas. When they asked Thomas about his big smile, he said that he sold his cow to a gentleman for 500 silver coins. Thomas planned to buy more lands so that he could grow more crops and buy more cows by selling those crops. In this way, he would be able to gain more resources to take care of his cow.

On the other hand, the shop owner understood his mistake when he found a pouch of silver coins tied to the cow’s bell. He came to know that there was no magic. He had become fool. Jack and Harry were disappointed because they couldn’t make Thomas unhappy. Finally, Thomas purchased a big piece of land and grew more crops with his hard work and sold them to the market. His hard work made him the richest person in the village.
