# Isa 7:14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. 

*Some characterize this scripture to naming the son of Isaiah Immanuel and these proponents of this idea that Isaiah and his wife had a son and gave him this name ignore that it was a virgin that brought forth this son. Isaiah’s wife did not fit this requirement. It is also very possible they did have a son and name Him Immanuel. But this is the way the prophetic works. For instance God tells Hosea the prophet to marry a prostitute named Gomer. But this was to show how God Himself was married to an unfaithful nation.*

Hos 1:2  The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.
Hos 1:3  So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

*Just as a point of humor I always think that if God told me to marry a prostitute, I would hope she would have a more beautiful name than “Gomer”*

Mat 1:20  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 1:21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mat 1:22  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Mat 1:23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
