I've still been trying to get the hang of Fusion. That typically involves watching a ton of tutorials and creating little mini projects like this image.

Started in Cinema with some simple displacement mountains. Then a bunch of messing around to create the texture for the mountains.

Then I brought that image into Fusion and Frankensteined a bunch of stuff together until I got this. At this point I'm feeling pretty comfortable doing basic composites and I'm looking forward to doing a more involved project and really integrating it into my workflow.

That's about all for tonight's creations. See you all in the next post.

Is that first screenie before or after making the texture for the mountains because if that's how simple displacement mountains look in C4D that's already pretty good XD

When you say you watch a tonne of tutorials do you follow any of them or do you watch/read a tonne and then just blunder along doing your own thing?

That was after. The texture is already applied there. I almost never actually follow the tutorial. For content like this, I already understand the foundational knowledge of compositing, and I'm mostly just looking for "How do I do x IN FUSION"

So mostly I already go into the tutorial wanting to know something specific, and I skip through or watch at 2x speed until I get to that thing. Usually take notes because it's a bunch of settings and they're hard to remember usually.

Then I try to make simple stuff referencing my notes, to get more familiar with everything and run into new questions that need to be answered. That's my general approach. For something where I'm totally clueless, like at one point I decided I wanted to learn Houdini, I will follow tutorials because I don't even know what I need to know, so in those situations I think that's the best way to go about it.

I was gonna say damn you hardcore and then I realised that I do similar things (except the notes are in my blog so I don't lose them) but I don't see me as hardcore and now I'm so confused XD
