Suburban Sunset

I am a huge fan of sunsets and sunrises.  I've stood or sat countless hours waiting for the sun to get in that perfect spot that turns the sky some of the most beautiful colors imaginable, many times with a camera in my hand.  My favorite locations usually involve water, the ocean or any body of water large enough that you can't see the far shore.  Flat open fields are beautiful too but you don't get the added dimension of the light reflecting off the water.  Mountains provide the addition of shadows deepening as the sun sets, maybe a mountain stream thrown in with trees on either side.

All those are beautiful, but my usual view is from my own back patio.  The sun setting behind the trees at the back of my neighbor's yard.  Back-lighting the trees providing a golden backdrop as the sun sets.  It makes for a great evening and the great thing is, it's available almost every day.

Say, as a connoisseur of sun positions...  Are you noting anything unusual about the setting and/or rising sun locations?  Some claim they've noticed changes.  I am not that observant and can't say either way, myself...

Nothing unusual.  It's after the summer solstice so up north we see the sun shift to the south pretty quickly right now.  Nothing new there, it happens every year.

There's a spot lower in those trees that when the sun hits it just right it looks like a tunnel.  Amazing sight but pretty rare, no picture of that yet.

We are on the exact wrong side of town for sunsets.  Offset by the sunrise opportunities!

Soon it will be a decent hour of the morning again when the sun peeks up and I can catch a few more sunny pics.
