**500 years after the death of Leonardo da Vinci**, one of the greatest artists of the Italian and European Renaissance, and numerous exhibitions are dedicated **all over the world** to pay homage to his absolute genius.

Becoming a **POP ICON** between the twentieth century and the early 2000s, Leonardo has in fact inspired artists, scriptwriters, novelists, stylists who have continually brought him back to the fore, often completely distorting the meaning of his work.

The many reproductions of the **Mona Lisa** are very famous of which I already spoke in my previous post:

But Leonardo reaches another record with his interpretation of the **Last Supper** of Christ which is recognized as **the most famous in Western art history**.

It is another masterpiece of Leonardo, inside the refectory of the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan - Italy, the Cenacle Vinciano since 1980 is included in the list of **UNESCO Heritage**.

So being among the most reproduced and revisited works of art in the world from the sixteenth century to the present..
#### how could I not dedicate a post to all the alternative versions of the Last Supper?

Do you remember the 2003 version of **La Chapelle** that made people talk a lot because for some it was almost blasphemous?

David LaChapelle has always been a **master of provocation** and in his Last Supper: 
"_he wondered if Christ was coming back, who would he be with?_",  giving his particular interpretation.
In a certain sense one can define a baroque photograph, with bright colors and full of details that convey tragedy, but at the same time anti-baroque, because it is irreverent: the poses are never epic, but grotesque, perhaps kitsch.

Thirty years ago, **Andy Warhol** also gave us his versions of the Last Supper which was also the last series he dedicated to his life.

Warhol's last series was an **exemplary case of postmodern aesthetics**, in which it contains the ease with which the relationship between the sacred and the profane is reversed, the culture of the elite and the mass.

#### But how could it be the Last Supper today in the digital and social era?

Would there have been selfies taken at the dinner table between Jesus and the Apostles? This is the artistic fantasy of the designer **Gunduz Agayev**.

**In the web universe there is no shortage of examples** of more or less famous works that want to give their version of Leonardo's Last Supper. 
Cartoon characters, monstrous zombies, Hollywood actors take the place of Jesus Christ and the apostles certainly arousing some laughter.
But if this system of revising the works of the past manages **to spread the message of art to everyone**, even to the masses, then one should not be afraid of falling into blasphemy.

I could go on forever but I think I'm dwelling a little too much, so I want to end with the **Last Dinner** that lights up my childhood memories, the **Disney princesses all together**, in a cheerful and joyful atmosphere.
