# <center>Forced sterilization</center>

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Forced sterilization is a violent method that disables the reproductive condition of human beings. Its adjective of *forced* or *compulsory* is that it is an act performed against the will. This practice usually lacks a clinical justification, medical reason and root causes in the racial improvement such as eugenics.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Although it is a practice that does not exclude men, women have been the main victims. There are many testimonies, around the world, that indicate the consequences, in some cases, physical and, in most cases, psychological.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;If we investigate, we will discover a long history of countries that have implemented this cruel method. In some nations, forced sterilization is categorized as a [crime against humanity](http://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/crimes-against-humanity.html/span). Between 1945 and 1946, it was considered a war crime by some countries in the last frame of the [Second World War](https://www.ushmm.org/learn/students/learning-materials-and-resources/mentally-and-physically-handicapped-victims-of-the-nazi-era/forced-sterilization). The United States, Germany, and Japan were among the first countries to launch the practice with eugenics and nationalist motives. Sweden, Switzerland, India and China are also recorded in history as practitioners. Latin America does not escape this count: Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, nations where racial conflicts exist are the main representatives of the forced sterilization of the Hispanic bloc.
