To be very honest, it's been a while since I invested in any ICO's or token pre-sale.
And this is with good reason. The crypto world can be complicated, and it can also be quite easy. Easy is when you invest your hard-earned cash/crypto in a coin that's quite stable or one you believe in, and just sit on it and wait. I'm sure those people who invested in Bitcoin a few years ago and held on till those little digital assets went up to nearly $20,000 in December 2017 will probably read this and nod. If they sold then, well that's the easy coming into play and I'm sure they were happy campers. But you know me, right? Easy has never been my middle name...🙃

# My personal (ICO) investment journey
In total, I put some money/crypto into less than 10 ICO's so far, since I entered the crypto realm. ***ALL*** of them had one thing in common: I researched the heck out of them. And if you want to invest in any, I'd advise you to do the same. 
I read any information I can find on their website, their social media accounts and anywhere else. I research the team: what has each individual done before this and what do they add to the company now? I read the blue paper, the white paper, the roadmap, and if there were any green, orange, and purple papers, I'd read them as well. In other words: anything I can find about the project. ***Most*** of the time, I also add some gut feelings to the mix: if something looks too good to be true, it usually is. And sometimes it can be even better. My gut hardly ever lets me down in this respect. 

However, sometimes even all of the above is not enough. After all: no one can predict the future and even if the project has been put together in the best possible way, with the best possible people who put their heart and soul into the project, it can still fail. It would be very naive to think that it can't.

When I invested in ICO's for the very first time, I chose three projects that seemed like a good idea. As mentioned above, I researched and researched and mixed with my gut feelings, I invested a minor amount of money divided by three. Looking back at it now, I can call it a success story. Two of the projects did really well and continue to do so. Another had a great promise, but due to unforeseen issues within the company, the token distribution took a very long time. It turned out fine either way.

Not long after these three, I invested in another ICO that had ***everything***. It had the project, it had the people, the whitepaper and so on. I was not only investing money, but also time, lots of it, on the project itself, because it meant that we would do ***good*** in the world, and help people who need it the most. But something in my gut told me there was something about the CEO. My gut was right but I didn't listen. The whole project was a complete scam. Everyone but the CEO lost money, time or both. This time I had invested more than just a couple of dollars, so it was a bitter pill to swallow.

But all of these examples were a lesson. Some great, some not so much.
Fact is that ***no one*** can predict anything when it comes to the crypto market. Even the best of the best can't. However, with a bit of research and maybe some gut feeling, we can invest and hope for the best. That's really all we can do.

# XR Token Swap

I had heard of XR Token before, but never really researched it any further. 
When I saw [this](https://steemit.com/steem/@oracle-d/lucrative-xr-token-discount-for-steemians-and-od-rewards) post by @oracle-d I decided to take a deeper look at the project. 
Let me first start with the offer on the table for Steemians at the moment.
The promise is that with a minimum investment of 50 Steem, 1 Steem will get you 10 XR tokens. The value of each token is approximately $0.15 but valued ***before*** the end of the ICO. In other words: this doesn't mean a thing. There's no way to predict where this token will go. It can indeed initially be listed at an exchange at $0.15 each, it could go up to $0.50 or $1.00 or even higher. But of course: it could go down to 1 cent. Again: no one ***knows*** exactly where these things can go. 

However, after looking into it a bit more, I find that the project is quite interesting. The team seems to be solid, and one look at their whitepaper and roadmap shows me that it is well thought-out, without any crazy promises or expectations. 

# What is GoFind XR?

Most people know about Virtual reality. But here, we take things one step further: XR or ***extended*** reality. Basically token holders can buy, sell and manage their own 'land' connected to actual geolocations. Apps can be built upon these 'structures' and owners could potentially turn their investment into a gold mine. Or does this sound too good to be true? You'll have to make up your own mind about that.

# I decided to jump into the deep once more

XR Token invested in Steem, and if someone puts their trust in my (and your) Blockchain, then I am willing to jump aboard and take a chance with them. Since Steem is still quite low at the moment, I decided to go crazy and invest 100 Steem. I am also thinking of delegating a little, but first things first...
