**Firstly, How Does Jean Came Into Existence?**

Jean were invented by **Jacob W. Davis** in partnership with **Levi Strauss & Co. in 1871** and patented by Jacob W. Davis and Levi Strauss on **May 20, 1873**

Originally, jeans was mainly designed for **cowboys** and **miners**, but as years goes on, jeans became popular in the 1950s among teenagers. So from teenagers, the popularity went viral from 1950s to 1980s and from 1980s till date.

Today, when talking about **fashion world**, jean is one of it scratch. And actually at first, it was a blue jean that was invented, but today, textile industries had gone wild to manufacture various color type of jeans.

We do see this little inner pocket of our jean everyday (provided if you have one), but majority (90%) of people wearing it are not paying attention to what this little pocket was meant for.

The manufacturer of this trouser, had reason for creating the little pocket. As we all knew, on creating or inventing something, there would definitely be a reason for such thing.

Various types of usages this small pocket is being used for by many. Some use it to keep tiny or small objects like... rings, button, matches, coins, tickets and so on... 

It has come to the point that, individual already named or tagged this pocket according to what they use it for. Some even named it as **condom pocket.** Funny isn't? But that's true.

As for me, I use it for anything tiny or small... Like SD Cards, keys etc...

**But What's The Original Use?**

If we check again the origin of jeans, we would see that it was originally invented for cowboys and miners. And then, there was a particular watch they use not like our wonderful wristwatches of today. If we compare those years (1800s) to ours, we would know it a very long years to our fashion style of today.

Cowboys and miners then, wore pocket watches and needed a protective place to store them.

So this tiny little pocket is actually meant for watches designed for cowboys in 1800s. A typical picture of this watch is the one below.

But since we are in our own millennium, that cowboy never existed like before, we are to use it for various functions that suits us. But originally, that's what it was meant for.
