I feel like this is direct competition now for Gridcoin :( Gridcoin was great but they seriously needed an easier to user interface for people.

This is seriously simple to use. You can set it and forget it and it just crunches away in the background. Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure that Gridcoin is working away on the Boinc app?

This distributed method of working reminds me of the early days of the internet when people actually worked collaboratively on useful and important things. 

The steem blockchain has a similar aspect to it. That's why I am here posting on Palnet. It's evolving and it's great to be onboard :-)

I hope you have more luck than I did @melinda010100. I also have a VAGUE recollection.

Since my phone was stolen I downloaded the app onto my new phone and, long story short, I couldn't find any bytes. I was told by support that there was nothing I could do to recover them if I didn't have a backup.

I couldn't remember what I did when I installed it but I was sure that I would have made a note of any important stuff if I'd been told to do so.

I found various keys and attestator thingies but still no luck.

In the end, someone helped me do a search on my laptop and I was able to find some files and eventually restore the wallet.

Now I need to find out how to do a backup. I've been at it for over 3 hours so I'm done for now.

Mass adoption of this stuff is a very, very long way away I think!

Hi Gillian, Obyte already has massive worldwide community.

It's just not very loud but gets on with practical problem solving. 😇

It is one of the few first uses of the internet for distributed computation and is very good at what it does.

Look at the date of the apps creation. 2003 and still working fine with a few minor updates.

That's the mark of good software doing something helpful in my book.

Good to hear that you recovered your data.

Byteball (Obyte) was valued at $1,195.99 USD (Jan 13, 2018) each!

There will only ever be 1 million Obytes created. And you have some. Winning

I do have some.. But I'm confused by it. One thing says I have 11.00 and another says I have 22.00 and to create a backup. I did a new password when asked, but it will only let me sign in with my old password and then it shows me having 11.00. Too confusing!
