The Price To Live For Free -Part 2 of 2.
### Welcome Back to the second and last part of this post. [Heres](https://steemit.com/freedom/@movingman/the-price-to-live-for-free-part-1-of-2) the first part to this but I guess you can get the idea from this post alone of what its about.

---

I wanted to share with you of how its possible to live without the use of banks, credit cards, debt, a full-time job, renting, buying food and clothes - oh and all the stress that comes with it. Its hard to see another way to be living if you never go and see the world with your own eyes, and if your born into a family with money then there's no reason for you to go look for a different lifestyle. The world is not big, and its not bad, and its not as scary as everyone said it was whilst growing up, or what the television and media says it is.
Fear will keep you in a box whilst living the same circle of events , stress and un-happyness that seems to repeat itself over and over and for some, there's only so much you can do until you have a "nervous breakdown". SOCIETY MAKES US *SICK* physically and mentally and the worst part is that we are *PAYING* to do this our whole lives. Its insanity, and anyone who thinks it doesn't, should close this window and stop reading, and definitely please *don't* leave a comment!

In this Part 2 I have got the same screenshots as I had used in part one from [Expatistan.com](https://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living/oslo) but this time i've drawn (scribbled) on and edited them to suit how it is for my slightly anarchistic and rebellious lifestyle.

So first was most likely the most important thing that a human needs to live good, especially in cold country -

## <center>Housing</center>

I have ticked what I actually pay for or paid for. I [occupy propertys](https://steemit.com/anarchy/@movingman/occupying-a-property-what-is-squatting) that have been empty some years with no sign that the owner even visits the place. And the place must already be "open"like a window to get in through, or an unlocked door, window basement etc. Basically as long as I don't break in, by damaging anything, then im only tress-passing and in Europe and Scandinavia its not really that bad of a crime. In Norway actually the police when they evict, are just very polite and pleasant towards me. This is how not to be paying rent. Also if one has money, you can buy a campervan or a caravan, or a boat to sleep in and keep your things at. Here is where I [live now](https://steemit.com/freedom/@movingman/cabin-no-cabin), and feel that I wont have to find another place in Norway, and if you read this post about where I live, its still standing!

<center> https://s18.postimg.cc/dwx4qffuh/edited_housing_cost_apr_oslo.gif</center>

I pay actually 600kr a month for mobile data to use the internet on my laptop. We have a huge Samsung TV that we use for our laptops and a mini SuperNitendo. Someone needed some plaster-boarding done quick and they wanted to get rid of the TV so that was a good swap for 2 hours work.

In the first part I said that we could say an average of 11,000kr for someone to rent an ok sized one-bed apartment in a nice area of Oslo.

## SAVING OF OVER 15,000kr PER MONTH (that's like 10 days wage after tax in an average paid job)
<center>https://steemitimages.com/DQmaiuGasc2vGC6wrf3Nu7Su5GTzNSx9UJGuApEhdjAZvzU/9.png</center>

### Clothes and Transport.

I think the last time I went to buy clothes from a shop was in 2009. I do buy boxer shorts and socks ( socks are the most important, boxers aren't that necessary compared to socks. Socks are holy after you've had the same pair on for 3 weeks hitching around Spain in the summer time as any hobo traveller, a fresh clean pair of socks is as refreshing as water in the desert.

<center>https://s18.postimg.cc/utm7j7q2x/Inkedclothes_and_transport.gif</center>

I don't really know how many clothes people buy, I know I used just ask for clothes for Christmas presents whilst growing up , as that would be the thing I would spend money on throughout the year. I ticked the shoes one, because I do buy boots. Well for last year I had found some new ones my size in a dumpster and had been thrown out because a ring for the shoelace was missing. Last winter I splashed out on some nice Bergens that cost 3000kr. These actually started to peel of at the sole so I took them back and ended up managing to keep them and I got some Crispi's (these boots are fucking nice) and were costing 3800kr, but when i went there there was 40 % discount on them ,and the girl on the register was new and yeh, I walked of with my original boots and these new ones for 2400kr I think it worked out at. 5 years worth of boots for living an off-grid lifestyle, the Bergens I can just glue the sole back on.

I get clothes from the clothes containers. The ones you see in car-parks or at recycling points. When I arrived one time in Switzerland I needed fresh clothes and was soon dressed in Ed Hardy hoody and Y.S.L Jeans, and putting my old clothes in the container. This is the main way I get clothes. If im moving, and need to change , I will wait by a clothes container and keep asking the people who bring clothes if I can recycle them first. Most say no and don't get it. One guy in Spain, said when I asked " Oh, no these are women's clothes" I remember saying that it really dosn't matter, and after a long chat,he told me that they were *his* old clothes and he had lied. Voila, fresh clothes for me, a true recycling act from him, and maybe his attitude changed a bit toward freaks.
Sometimes also get clothes after a flea market, people don't want to take them home. In Spain there are clean clothes everywhere in regular household trash. Me and a girlfriend made great money in boot-fairs, collecting clothes during the week, and selling clothes for 1 euro a pieces, just a huge mountain on the floor at a boot fair. We would make at least 150 euro a weekend.

Also in city's peoples condition minds just see me and presume im homeless not by choice and that I must be on drugs as I usually have a joint on the go, and so people from churches tell me places where I can get clothes when they see me looking in trash cans and then I also can get from charity run by the church. This is the only good thing the church does in my eyes and I take full advantage of them corrupt c$&ts, they should anyway share some of that greed money they have there.

#### <center>Transport - I pay 1300kr a month for a travel card.</center>

### Lets say I spend 2000kr on shoes a year and socks 100kr a month. Including clothes and travel In total I will spend 1600kr a month maximum.

<center>https://steemitimages.com/DQmaiuGasc2vGC6wrf3Nu7Su5GTzNSx9UJGuApEhdjAZvzU/9.png</center>

### Personal Care

<center>https://s18.postimg.cc/fidbl6qkp/Inkedpersonal_care.gif</center>

I didn't eat a paracetamol in around 8 years, and have taken antibiotics twice, as a last resort. I]m not into eating government made pills at all. I do buy toothpaste, soap and deodorant but these are always organic oh and things to clean ears with! I own an electric toothbrush since last year, due to the fact that I was lazy and ended up getting bad gum infection. I have good teeth, I have no fillings or holes and the last time I visited a dentist was 18 years ago and the electric toothbrush (after a lot of blood and pain) actually removed that infection in the gum which was a poppy seed got infected, so there was no need for a dentist. Well worth the 200nok for the toothbrush!
I'm also spending around 300kr a month on vitamin tablets and I'd included the sauna from above below as personal care than entertainment. So that's about it for "personal care"..

## To say I spend 400kr a month on personal care sounds even way to much!

### Entertainment

<center>https://s18.postimg.cc/86cgtjq2h/Inkedentertainment.gif</center>

I do every now and then buy some fast food, I go at least one a month usually to a Chinese all you can eat buffet for 150kr. That's my kind of thing to spend money on instead of the cinema or theater. Drinking in bars dosn't interest me as much as it used to, but then when it did, I was living the drone lifestyle so that was our reward after working or on sunny days drinking beer and getting shitfaced drunk.
I do also meet people for coffees every now and then and I buy hot drinks whilst working in the city. As for the I-pad on the list there, I actually did buy a new laptop mainly for trading crypto ect that cost 5000kr, it probably wont last a year though as i have bad luck with tech. I ticked the gym one because lately Ive been going to the sauna and Jacuzzi which costs 200kr each time.
I really don't spend much on "entertainment" as in going out. Oh the cigarettes.. I get cheap cigarettes that have been smuggled into the country, and I pay 60 kr a packet, when the shop price is double this. Up until the last month I would buy 20 packets of organic tobacco for 100kr which would last a few months but haven't found anyone who has any so the cheap cigarettes are for now.

## I spend around 4000kr a month on tabacco, and coffees and the laptop, plus fast foods.. writing this down makes me realize that I'm spending a lot on these things. But in comparison to buying cigarettes with tax on them and not drinking alcohol, I cant imagine how much a Norwegian spends actually on "entertainment" it must be easily triple what im spending!

I guess Hashish and weed would be considered as "entertainment" and for this I buy 50g at a time because it works out at half price nearly to buying in gram bags or whatever, plus saves me going to look for it every day or other day. 50g lasts me around 30 days at most and costs me around 4250kr and I use cellulose papers as they are burning much lower so are more efficient.

### Maximum 10,000kr a month I spend on "entertainment"

<center>https://steemitimages.com/DQmaiuGasc2vGC6wrf3Nu7Su5GTzNSx9UJGuApEhdjAZvzU/9.png</center>

There's nothing else really what I can think of that I spend money on, please if you wonder anything how I get it or if I need it, then ask , im really also interested to think about what I've missed out as I forget what people are spending money on! Im away up the mountains for a few days so wont be online much until Sunday, got an epic post coming of what im doing up here! There will be part two of this [post-Stackitus](https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@movingman/stacktitus) when im back in Oslo..

<blockquote>"SOCIETY MAKES US SICK physically and mentally and the worst part is that we are PAYING to do this our whole lives."</blockquote>

I think many Europeans and Americans in the middle class are slowly starting to realize this fact.

Btw, who needs housing when you have a mini SuperNintendo and a Samsung TV :-)

What the fuck would you lie for? Hilarious. I bet he was thinking the same thing. I spent less cash when I had less. I'd be happy to be sacked right now I tell you. Probably need less parecetomal but i'm unhappy about the codeine ban here. I do like it every now and then.

Awesome breakdown, great post as usual. Would like to upvote, will come back when i have more VP. Ouch.

Hmm ... I don't feel sick ... not physically, let alone mentally. And I certainly wasn't "born into a family with money " ... Perhaps society is not as embracing as we would wish it to be ... perhaps the range of personalities that it manages to integrate smoothly, without making them sick one way or the other, is still to limited and it should be bigger.

I wonder though how is Norwegian society making anyone sick PHYSICALLY? I can understand about the mental part, it probably is quite homogenous and a great degree of conformity is expected lest the stress becomes unbearable ....

But physically ?

Hi Sorin! Thanks for dropping by..
Im not really talking just about Norway, I guess im comparing this sentences with the UK and Germany, two country's of which I had lived inside the society. We could firstly start at the foods in the supermarkets, 95 % of which are loaded with addeds sugars.. Added sugars are creating diabitis, cancer and obisity and more.

Water in the taps, Chloride, Floride and whatever else is added it there "or your health" pff lol

We pollute the air we need to breath, by cars, machinery etc.

We are made to sit in a chair at school for many years, when the sitting in such a way isnt natural and leads later in life to posture problems and back pains.

Stress also is created by society, and stress has a lot of physical effects on us.

There are proberbly more point to add if I thought about it longer :)

I don't know about the UK but fluoride is not used in Continental Europe (afaik only the US fluorinates its water but maybe the UK too). Chloride yes, on balance it's far better to have chloride than bacteria which would otherwise develop in the pipes ...

Continental Europe food is much, much healthier than american food. Specifically, I contest your "95% loaded with added sugars" - that is probably true for the US (even the milk there tasted as if it had been loaded with corn syrup) but I am ready to bet it is not true for Europe, certainly not for Germany. Might depend what supermarkets you go to, some of them might have lower quality food than others but generally I found "too much salt" to be more of a problem (when buying downmarket food) than "too much sugar".

Air pollution has dropped dramatically in the past decades and continues to drop. Things are resolutely looking up on this side.

In the end I think it's a question of choice: choosing to see the glass half-full or half-empty :-)

Steem on!

Hihi hey man! Oh yeh :) For me and people I live with and hang out with, this is all "The Norm" I forget that people are still indulging in many things, and we don't know any other ways to live apart from what we are shown.. I like to try and convey an alternative way to do the "life" thing! Wait until I get this post up from whats been going on the last few days :)

Awesome man! It's interesting to see other lifestyles and "norms". You remind me of Jack Kerouac in the novel On the Road. He was big on Freedom and traveling.

still rooting for u to give up the coffee! u can do it! what flee market were u selling in spain, where in spain? me and a friend wanted to have a market stall but where asked to provide a street selling license, im guessing u didnt have one. I always thought squatting would be something id like to try, well i did try it and it failed don the first day lol and it depends what kind of squatting situation it is I guess. So where u live now, u dont have to pay for electricity or u do pay for it? I do end up buying stuff but its more practical stuff rather than indulgent stuff. im the kind person who needs tools and tings to work with ;) things kinda just multiple. R u an aires or libra? or neither?

Hi @celestrialcow! Ah the Coffee thing lol.. well actually im leaving and going back to Oslo today and I just lit the fireto heat water and there is only tea here for breakfast, so that a help :)

The place was Nerja ,South Coast Spain (this one im talking of above)

Hahah Id love to here about your squatting attempt? I just have a car battery that the neighbours allowed us to charge for out lights, but then when winter came we were charging it down the hill , and then my laptop broke from the cold and so now we have a 50m cable running from the neighbours to charge things.
Elecrtic here in Norway is very cheap as 95%is from hydro energy so the nieignbours didnt ask for us to pay something, although they got a 2.5kg bag of nice coffeebeans! We had 25 kg from dumpsters, and youd be pleased to know I didnt drink on cup lol.

Im a Taurus :)

haha i thought taurus at one point because thats my sign and like me i dont like spending money unnecessarily lol because taurus rules the house of money and possessions but at the same time they can be the ppl who spend too much or possess too much thats me also lol. id be intrigued to know ur moon sign.

Its crazy in spain electricity prices are high despite or this sun and potential for solar panels, its all corruption but ppl are fighting bk on it atm. I just went thru the whole winter without heating and it was unbearable cant imagine it in oslo but then maybe the houses are better insulated but by the sound of ur laptop breaking maybe not! im not sure if its healthy for us humans to live in the cold like that we need at least a fire or some ultra warm clothes and an iglu.

The squatting attempt is a long story so i wont go into detail but involved the police and i managed to get 80 euro in 1 euro coins as compensation :)

was in the south of spain in december wanted to stay in nerja but then we didnt for some reason but passed by the caves there, but didnt go in, because they wanted like 10 euro a pop. i know they gotta look after these natural wonders or whatever but the price is absurd and then again should we be making these natural wonders into disney land attractions. Im the type of person who climbs the gates to get into festivals for free, so not gonna start paying for caves LOL

im glad to hear about the coffee! :)

Very interesting way to live. You are right that people pay to live in a way that isn't even any fun.

My wife and I plan to live for very little by homesteading, living off the power and gas grids and producing our own food. It will be great once we get there but in the short to mid term it is expensive and a lot of work.

We are already well on the path. We bought some land a couple years ago and are building an energy efficient house on it this year. We have a few detailed posts on some of those aspects if you browse our posts over the last few months.

It's amazing how 'ordinary life' locks you in to what I call 'sub-optimal expenditure patterns'.

I'm very much on the same 'reducing expenditure trip' as you are, here in the UK. I think you've gotta kill that fast food habit to bring your expenditure down further, that's low hanging fruit right there.

Good luck, just followed, interesting blog.
