 Greetings to you all .Today I like us to talk about diversifying production with the change in seasons.

Diversifying your production in agriculture can help expand your markets ,during the wet and off season. Most often during the rainy seasons in the tropical areas, vegetable farmers sell hundreds of thousands of seedlings to urban and rural farmers, to be able to set up either their home gardens or market gardens

*During the rainy season, most gardeners concentrate in the nursery so as to be able to satisfy the needs of market gardeners but during the off season they also farm the siblings themselves*

Some of these farmers will not sell the same quantity of seedlings during the off-season or call it the dry season  period. For this reason, it is most important to diversify farm activities into doing something different or related. Instead of working in the nursery alone ,farmer do grow the crops as well.

It is quite important to diversify your farm activities such that at any given moment of the farm season ,you will not find yourself being idle and doing nothing. In this way, your profit would not depend on one direction. Your profits will also be diversified in such a way that if you are not making profit from livestock you can make it from seedlings or from the final fruits which you can take to the market and sell or sale from your farm. Diversifying crop production would be good if you also do crop rotation.  This can include changing to about 3 crops.This helps in pests management and less use of pesticides. 

It is also  important to diversify your farm activity such that you can avoid the risk of losing more than you can gain.  For instance; if a farmer should nurse more vegetable seedlings during the dry season, the tendency is that not many farmers will be buying seedlings given the challenges of water scarcity.  Most farmers cannot cultivate too many  seedlings nursed by the farmer and so is he or she too. So, it is important to diversify and sometimes also plant the seedlings that are nursed, such  that nothing is wasted . Thank you very much the for reading.
