Hello  dear Steemians ,hope you are doing well Today I want us to look at home gardens. Having a home garden helps you in alot of ways as you get to grow your own food. You decide what kinds of fertilizers and pesticides come in contact with your food.In most cases , you may not need to even use them.  You enjoy the freedom of when to plant , what to plant as well as when to harvest.You are sure of the content that you are eating than if you bought it from the groceries  shop.

Low income families can save up money and spend less on having to buy every fruit and vegetable that they consume. They can grow their own food even in a small piece of land  by the home . it is less costly and can save up money that can be used for other things.
It helps us not to be dependent on buying food that we can grow ourselves and if able to produce enough, we can even sell it or give away.

One reason why it is important to have a home garden is because It helps promote  the importance of biodiversity and the importance of  growing a broad variety in the garden. Owning a home garden is a good way for the family to spend more time together and learn  about gardening as a team or from each other .
People can work for themselves instead of working long hours for minimum wages and buying the food back as consumers. People can work for themselves and create their own food from their own land.

In order to avoid chemical and growing food, it is important to own your own home garden so that you can grow food that avoids the use of chemical fertilizers pesticides insecticides and fungicides . Growing organic  food in your garden helps in  low carbon emission foods. This is also good for the environment as it help preserve the lives of insects like bees that helps in pollination.

Having a  home garden will also improve the  lives of the community  as it can set an example of a livelihood for others to follow.Having people involved in local community gardens will make people come together for a common purpose.

By having a backyard garden you will save  a quantity of carbon from entering the atmosphere for each pound of produce that you grow. Hunger can be avoided if more people did small scale farming and were less dependent on huge farms. Thanks for reading.
