Brown Bats

 The old saying is, fishing, it is feast or fathom. Yesterday was the feast, today was fathom. I caught 3 pompano my husband never caught one. It would be nice if we could get more than one good day in a week, but it never or rarely works that way. In this video if you watch on the right side of my boat you will see what we call brown bats, I am not sure what their real name is but brown bats is what we have always called them. It was a beautiful day today, except for these things. I was sitting there waiting on a pompano to bite when one of my rods doubles over and line went to running off, it was doubled over so far that I had a hard time getting it out of the rod holder, I finally got it out and kept trying to hold the spool to stop it from taking all my line, while doing this two more rods went to having the line peel off at a high rate of speed. I got the first one broke off and grabbed the next rod, got it broke off and went to the third rod, got it broke off. I lost three rigs in no time at all. All three were these brown bats. I hooked another one later in the day but got lucky and all it did was straighten my hook. My husband lost 2 rigs to them and had one straighten his hook. what a pain in the ass they are.
