Christian community!  The remission of sins is nothing more than the forgiveness of sins.  This expression in the New Testament almost always refers to the forgiveness of God, of Him who "forgives abundantly" (Isaiah 55: 7).

  How can God that it is holy to forgive sinful man?  He can by virtue of his grace, of the Son of his love, of the blood shed on the cross of Calvary.

  1. By virtue of his grace: "the Beloved, in whom we have ... the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace" (Eph 1: 7).

  2. By virtue of the Son of his love: "In whom we have redemption, the remission of sins" (Col. 1:14).

  3. By virtue of the blood of his cross: "Without shedding of blood there is no remission," it is written (Heb 9:22).  The Lord Jesus told his disciples at the institution of the Lord's Supper: "This is my blood, the blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many in remission of sins" (Matthew 26:28).

  How, on the other hand, can the remission of sins be obtained?  - By faith and repentance.

  1. By faith: "All the prophets testify to him, that by his name all who believe in him receive the remission of sins" (Acts 10:43).

  2. By repentance: John the Baptist preached "the baptism of repentance in remission of sins" (Mark 1: 4).  Zacarias, his father, had blessed the Most High by prophesying that one day John "would go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways, to give the knowledge of salvation to his people, in the remission of their sins, through the bowels  of God".  the mercy of our God "(Luke 1:77).

  Later, the Apostle Peter, after the coming of the Holy Spirit on earth, conjured and exhorted the people: "Repent, and may each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, in remission of sins" 2:  38).

  The apostle Peter says in front of the Sanhedrin: "It is he whom God has exalted for his prince and savior, that he may repent ... and forgive sins" (Acts 5:31).

  In his apology to King Agrippa, the apostle Paul remembers that he was sent to the people and nations "to receive the remission of sins" and that he told them "to repent and turn around".  to God, doing works suitable for repentance "(Acts 26:18, 20).

  The Lord Jesus, on the day of the resurrection, when concluding a first meeting around him, sent his disciples to the service that was to be entrusted to them.  Then he breathed on them saying, "Receive the Holy Spirit, to whom you forgive your sins, they will be forgiven, and whoever you have will be saved" (John 20:22, 23).  He communicated a new life, the life of the Spirit.  Therefore, those who have it have the ability to discern who really has the life of God.  They can affirm to the believer that his sins are forgiven, forgiven and certify to those who do not have faith, that their sins are not forgiven, that they are withheld from him.

  The testimony of the Holy Spirit finally gives the soul all the assurance of the remission of sins: "I will never again remember your sins or your iniquities, but where there is remission of these things, there is no longer an offering for sin" (  Heb 10:17, 18).  The sacrifice of Christ, which takes away sin forever from the eyes of God, has been offered.  It is perfect, there is no need to offer another.  The remission of sins is final.
