What is the Comparative Rating of Steemit as compared with other Social Media Organizations?
View the original post on Musing.io

The thing is, Steemit isn't really social media per se, it's more a blogging platform so comparing it to true social media platforms like facebook is'nt really going to give us a true comparative. If comparing it like for like it would come off second best everytime.

However, the Steem blockchain is giving us the tools to create a suite of social media applications and right now of course, we have zapple, steepshot, musing, dlike, which are like for like equivalents of Twitter, Instagram, Quora respectively. Using these DApps in combination with Steemit ( or preferably one of the great DApps such as @partiko and @steempeak) we then start building a combination of applications that do compete and all linked to Steemit as the main 'wall' so to speak. Now the picture is looking much better!

What Id really love to see is a decent messenger system built native on the Steem blockchain, this I feel would take us into the stratosphere. I know we have Steemchat, but its poor and not really used and that most people use Discord, but I find it odd that I have to leave the blockchain to chat. I want a one stop blockchain solution and hopefully, further integration of the DApps with more control what appears on my feed.

Lets not forget that at two years old, Steem and blockchain technology is still in its infancy and that in time we will get the the ability to use it in a very flexible way to suit us all.

Dont compare chalk to cheese! Just keep using the blockchain and of course, getting rewarded. All you get from FB is stress, Ads and heartache so on that front alone, there is NO comparison!

I agree. People are always comparing it with Facebook. That is absolutely useless. They are so different! If Facebook breaks down they will probably not go running to Steemit.

That would be funny..Shit, Fbs down, better migrate to Steemit. Problem at the moment is Steem is a complete dogs dinner. I think that will be compounded with SMTs and the fact 90% of the posts here are Steem related.

Totally agree with the need for a native chat app and hopefully some privacy options.

Unfortunately the bear market means Steem is worth less and therefore there is less incentive for new developers to enter the steem network.

On a positive note, those who are developing haven't given up, even with the bears driving the price down ~90% from its ALTH. That alone us a very positive sign.

I see a whole lot of projects failing and capital being redeployed on genuine working projects. I expect steem to benefit from that

Mate, you need a new account! Not even Lazarus could come back from a -11 !!
Its more of a shame to see how many have taken the cash and jumped off like rats. I just went through my following list and wiped over half of it out. Some big names 7 or 8 months ago, just gone, and others just parked their SP into Smartsteem and are raking in the interest.

It's a part of the journey ;)

In a way, it filters out people who genuinely want to follow what I write.

People are fickle, they will all flock back and complain about STEEM being too expensive to buy in a few months. The level of commitment we see from the witnesses and core content producers means this place isn't disappearing anytime soon.

Hopefully hard fork 20 will accelerate that growth.

Anyone holding Ethereum did really well when the ICO craze started. Steem holders will benefit in the same way when SMTs start running on the steem blockchain.

Good to hear from you as always!
