Over the weekend we had two seemingly unrelated sports being hosted in England, with a vast international audience.First, we had the finale of the Cricket World Cup being played by New Zealand and England. And then across at Wimbledon, we had two of the most dominant men's tennis players in modern times face off in the final.

# The best ODI Cricket match ever!

In the Cricket World Cup, we had what many commentators referred to ass **the best ODI Cricket match ever**. This wasn't a fantastic cricket match because of any individual moment or spectacular performance, but the twist and turns, the tension and the thrill was out of this world! After making 241 in the first innings, New Zealand seemed very little chance of defending their small total. But somehow some brilliant mid-innings bowling restricted England and drove up the required run rate. It seemed that New Zealand would push their way to their first ever World Cup title. But a couple of errors and bad luck got England back in the game, and the scores were tied by the end of England's 50 overs.

Along came the extra over tie-break. This was the first time I witnessed such a thing. In the England over, they managed 15 runs which seemed formidable, but after a 6, and successive 2's, New Zealand only required 3 off the last 2 balls to win. But they only managed 2, which meant the scores were again tied. You'd think that, they would go to another extra over, but for some reason, the rules stated that the winner would be detaermined by a count back of boundaries made. England managed to win the World Cup on a superior number of boundaries. What a match! Both sides deserved to win.

## A fifth set epic between two champs

If the exitement at the Cricket World Cup wasn't enough, across at Wimbledon, we had two of the best tennis players ever face off in the final. Federer has always been my sentimental favorite, but Djokovich has had the edge on Federer in recent times, especially in finals. Federer had his chances to take both the first and third sets, but somehow Djokovic found a way to win both. Federer fought back in the second and fourth sets to take the match into a fifth, and looked like taking the tournament when he led 40-15 in the fifth set with 2 Championship points. As with the case in these matches Djokovic again fought back to take the tinal set into a tie-breaker, which he eventually won. It was again a match for the ages!

An incredible weekend of cricket and tennis!
