In search of lost village, 40 years after people

We started trip with car around 09 am. From town after 20 min ride and some 15 km distance we parked at village Riđani. It was partly clear with some dark clouds in distance. Heawy now has fallen on higher mountains night before. Temperature was around 0°C to 1°C with frost on ground. Later with sun it climbed up to 7°C.

Village Riđani(260 m. alt.) is part of Biskupija county, contains  three smaller parts, including long time deserted place with no oficial name on google maps. In some free source maps and wikipedia it' s called Karanovac (550 m. alt.)

Clean macadam path, friendly dog bark, noise of sheeps in distance. Some water source or small waterfall. Field in karst long time forgotten serves now as feeding place for wild hogs. Wild forest fires this summer left oportunity for fresh grass and young forest to start again.

No electricity, no water except water-well, no nearby doctor, local store. Just land and few houses, some for people, some for animals, some separated with wooden fence made home for both. That is pretty cool. Abandoned places have this eerie kind of beauty. There is this finality in it, that makes you imagine why people left them, never to return.
