Today marked the official reopening of our school. This information had already been communicated to us a couple of weeks beforehand so we were all prepared. However, our usual school calendar had now been changed. We used to have a variety of courses (about 5 different courses) within the week but our new management has now changed all of that. They seem to believe that allocating a single course per week would be the best strategy. With regards to my course (Geology), I would be looking at Minerology and Crystallography this week.

#### <center><sub>Meeting our lecturer for the first time</sub></center>

It started a bit slower the first day as the lecturer didn't start on time. We were supposed to start at 8:00 a.m. but the lecturer wasn't available by then. He later communicated to us about the fact that he had an impromptu meeting with the school board as he currently occupies the role of Head of Department (HoD) for our Faculty of Earth and Environment Science (FEES). We later had the class at class at 10:00 a.m.

It was mostly about part 2 of crystallography, a course we did last semester. But the lecturer failed to carry on himself with the class. Instead, he assigned a teaching assistant (Vitus) to introduce us to the course. That was not a heavy task for a teaching assistant as it only required him to do a couple basic things. First of all were officially introduced to the course title and it's application. We were given lecture notes to use as supplementary reading materials as well as a list of books we can find good information about the course.

#### <center><sub>Screen got stuck on the teaching assistant</sub></center>

Midway through, there was a problem. We were using zoom for the class meeting but the screen was stuck on himself instead of the powerpoint presentation. I quickly prompted him as he was talking about stuff that he thought we were seeing on our screens. He then made the attempt to solve this issue but I noticed he was struggling with how to go about it.  I tried to help  out but the meeting suddenly ended. It didn't surprise me as most of these lecturers do not also know how to operate such software. Our course rep reached out to him and he just decided to share his presentation with as since his time had elapsed and most of my mates had went about their normal lives as well.

It is going to be a rigorous couple of weeks as we woyld be doing six hours a day and some end of week exams, but I will still make some time to be active on steem as well. I hope they find a way to reduce the pressure on us within the week.
