This is the fifth in a series that @manouche calls DrawDiction, in which she creates stunning artwork on old dictionary pages! The word she's portraying in this post is "adrift" - an adjective rather than her usual noun - and she calls on memories of making paper boats with her sister and letting them drift away for inspiration. The result, curated by @m31, is beautiful, colorful, and creates a fascinating overlay for a dictionary page!

Our next offering is by @tomtomcorley and a trip this "power couple" took to Leavenworth, Washington to escape the post-Christmas blues. In this winter wonderland, it's always Christmas! The Bavarian village is always decked with festive lights and you can find happy people bundled up warm while children have fun sledding down snow-covered hills. But it's a Bavarian village, so there's lots of good beer (and wine) on every corner. Thanks to @elteamgordo for finding this gem of a post!

Next, we're treated to an educational post by @bape682 on carbon nanotubes, which are used in extremely small-scale technology. These nanotubes, which are allotropes of carbon, possess a thickness that's a million times smaller than a millimeter and a pliable, netted structure. We're a millennium farther into the future and a <i>synth</i>, a member of a race of robots originally designed to serve humankind, has gone rogue. It's a world where humans dislike robots. A pretty new Steemian author named @xhodan is creating a world in which we find one police captain who's overworked, hasn't slept, and is running on empty. Thankfully, a tall, mysterious man named Henry is there to take over until the captain can recover. Follow along in the first part of this science fiction story curated by @gmuxx.

Next up is a recipe provided by @soul-lifter, an organic chef. It's a "mashed potato" recipe that uses carrots and turnips! A lot of people these days are trying to avoid the high carb count of potatoes by substituting cauliflower, but in this recipe you can try a different substitution to change things up a bit. Rather than a sweet dish, this is more of a garlicy, creamy side dish that's super easy to make and we can thank @mk40 for curating this recipe!

In this post, @tysonjames shows us how the puppets in the Buzzfeed commercial he's working on are made, a fascinating process curated by @jznsamuel. The puppets are used in a filming technique called stopmotion animation. The "cool cucumber" being showcased here is first sculpted in clay, then molded and cast into plastic. Limbs are added with wire and then artists paint the puppet down to the last detail.

Our travel guru @steemitworldmap has curated this post by @junebride that takes you on a city tour of Puerto Princesa in the Philippines. There are a ton of beautiful photographs in this how-to of "do it yourself" travel. Her adventures with her husband included visiting a crocodile farm, a butterfly garden, a towering cathedral, and the Tagbanua Tribe who demonstrated how to make their hunting weapons. Our last entry today was found by @saywha and follows the artistic process used by @mr-monk as he draws Yoda for the Trial by Comics contest. But this isn't your typical drawing using pencil and paper. This one utilizes Sharpies on a box of Amaretti cookies! It's amazing to note how the artist used the dark red cookie wrapper on the box front as a reason for his placement of a deep, dark shadow on Yoda's chin. You don't want to miss this amazing transformation of a box-top!
