Hi Steemians,

Are you good in English Language??

Here's a little assessment to keep your brains running. Cheers.

Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.

It was Pa Lasisi who first heard the faint cries of the baby earlier in the morning when he had gone to inspect his traps. The old farmer had been sad and surprised at the extent of the destruction of his maize farm by the flood which had come from the city of Ibadan, about fifteen kilometers away.

He was inspecting the debris which the flood had deposited on his farmland when the faint cry of a human being startled him. Looking around him, he could not see anybody. He was on the verge of dismissing the sound when his eyes caught the orange colored plastic bucket which looked out of place among the debris. As he waded through the swamp towards the bucket, the cry rang out clearly like that of an infant. Cautiously, the old man bent down and opened the cover of the spring-operated bucket. Staring into his weather-beaten face was a little wrinkled creature that was crying and sucking his fingers. For a few seconds, all that Pa Lasisi could do was stare at the baby. He could not believe what he was seeing.
However, having lost his two children seven years before in a similar flood disaster, his paternal instinct quickly overcame him and he recollected himself. He picked up the crying child from the water that had collected at the bottom of he bucket, and was glad the baby was still alive.
