Indica la proporción relativa de los diferentes grupos, por tamaño de las partículas minerales dado en un determinado suelo y, estos están comprendidos desde Arena muy gruesa (2 mm) hasta la Arcilla que es la partícula más fina (<0,002 mm) Las clases texturales están basadas en diferentes combinaciones de `arena`, `limo` y `arcilla`, a esto se le conoce como clase textural y va desde suelo arenoso, suelo franco hasta suelo arcilloso. En el campo podemos apreciar la textura por el tacto y lo hacemos tomando una muestra seca entre nuestros dedos y sentimos la aspereza del tamaño de los granos (arena) o lo fino como talco de la arcilla.
