Brighton took on Leeds United and they gave Leeds a shocker in a bid to guarantee their own safety in the league. Both teams attacked well but Brighton showed they won't go down as they showed enough fight on their road to safety from relegation.
Trossard had a lovely opportunity in the 6th minute to give his side the lead when he was played through on goal. He did everything right by cutting inside into the box but he was closed down from having a visible chance to shoot. He managed to nonetheless but the goalkeeper gathered the effort.
Brighton got a penalty in the 13th minute when Welbeck got down under the challenge of Alioski. The referee pointed to the spot. Gross stepped up and scored it to give Brighton the lead, 1-0.
Trossard blew another chance in the 37th minute when Danny Welbeck won a closed down challenge in the box and fed Trossard. He rather skied his effort rather than find a decent strike to bury the chance. A huge let-off for Leeds United there.
The first half ended and Brighton led by 1-0. Only Southampton have dropped more points from winning positions this season. It was a decent first half for Brighton and Leeds knew they had to respond.
In the 76th minute, Dallas had a lovely volley shot after the ball found him. It was beautifully hit but the ball went just over the bar by a tiny margin. Welbeck produced a moment of magic in the 80th minute when a lofted pass wasn't dealt with by Leeds. Welbeck brilliantly brought the ball down and drilled a low drive shot into the far corner of the net to make it 2-0.
The game ended 2-0 and Brighton took a good step towards safety. They are now in 14th place and with Fulham losing against Chelsea, they are now 10 points ahead of 17th placed Fulham.
