DYSPNEA

Dyspnea is a medical term For Shortness of breath,sometimes described as "air hunger or breathlessness". This medical condition can either be mild or temporary as the case may surface. In most cases the air we breath in every seconds contains oxygen that helpes the human body in process of our food and also to energize our body. The human brain can only cope without oxygen for five (5) minutes. Beyond these five minutes, the brain may suffer irreparable damage. A person who is suffering from breathlessness is not given the needed attention it may leads to deaths or lasting brain damage as a result.

CAUSE OF DYSPNEA

An individual can experience short breath after undergoing an intense exercise, when traveling to a high attitude etc. Other cause can be:- infection (such as pneumonia, bronchiectasis,common cold), obstruction by foreign bodies, abnormal growths (such as cancer from within the airways), allergy (reaction to food,drugs,medications)and irritations(from the airway that could occur in fume inhalation environment and chemical inhalation), poison, heart failure etc. The above cause of dyspnea could either be acute or chronic. Example of acute dyspnea are

Acute Dyspnea.

Heart failure

Hypertension

Pulmonary embolism

Anemia

Chronic Dyspnea

When a person experience short of breath for a long period of time e.g a month or above,this can be term to be a chronic dyspnea condition example are:-

Asthma
COPD (Chronic obstruction pulmotor disease)
Heart problems

Dyspnea is a symptom for asthma. Environment pollution, exposure to dust, exposure to contaminated air,smoke etc can more difficult for people with dyspnea to live.Exposure to the above conditions can easily trigger dyspnea.

Symptoms of dyspnea

Difficult in breathing after exertion

Felling suffocated as a result of breathing difficulties

Tightness in the chest

Heart palpitation

Wheezing

How to tackles dyspnea
There are basic life support (BLS) everyone is expected to know in saving life of people suffering from such ailments.

Asthma attack:-Every patients needs to take their medication that has been prescribed to them

Fume inhalation can decrease oxygen supply to the body.A person with the basic life support can help a victim who is attack from fume inhalation in regaining their breath.

Dyspnea is not a health problem to be handle with levity but should be given a rapped attention and also sensitization should be given to people so as to help people suffering from such problems. Thanks.
