Firstly, the numbers: our total STEEM value is currently about 1402 STEEM, including 235 STEEM within Steem Engine and a total of 15223 tokens in play. This gives ONECENT an ABV of about 9.2 cents, the same as yesterday.

Time to talk about time.
Profits can be expressed in different ways - it can be confusing. Making 10% in a year is different to making 1% per month. All fairly obvious, and yet we see the ubiquitous ROI (return on investment) bandied around which often excludes any measure of time - or sense of reality.
A useful measure is the APR (annual percentage return), so that one can compare different investments yielding different amounts over different timescales. I don't wish to go through the intricacies of the calculations, as you all have different token holdings with different average prices. But here is an example of the kinds of calculations you should be doing.
If this is all obvious to you, just skip it, but I know there are some players who need some level of advice.
So, let's imagine I hold 200 tokens and have managed to buy them at an average price of 7.5 cents. The current price is 9.2 cents. The first question is: how much profit am I making if I can sell the lot now?
Well, we're on day 17 and my profit is 1.7 cents (9.2-7.5) on a 7.5 cent average buying price. So my percentage profit would be 22.7% and my APR would be 487%! Astonishing, huh! Total gross profit would be 340 cents, or 3.4 STEEM.
To calculate the APR just divide your profits by the number of days you have held them, then multiply by the days in a year.
Now, what would happen if you held off till near the end. What is your estimate of the final ABV of the game? Well, there are still 183 days left maximum; let's say we end up at 13.9 cents, about 50% higher than today. Your gross profit would then be 6.4 cents per token, or 12.8 STEEM in total. That's much higher than now, but what would be your APR?
You would need to calculate it from the day you bought your holding, but let's assume you stocked up by day 5, so you're holding on to the tokens for 195 days. Then the APR will be 160%. The calculation involves, as before, your estimated percentage profit divided by the number of days left till redemption then multiplied by days in a year.
That's still phenomenal compared to the 20% available on the Steem blockchain.
Now it's up to you to decide: do you prefer gross profits or APR?
These calculations can be updated every day. They also assume that tokens are available at your target price. If they are not, then you may, of course, just a place a market order and see if it gets
Thus, in addition to the mathematics of the token distribution and the trading strategies to minimise average costs, time is of the essence.
