I see alot of up and coming artistes springing upon a daily basis. Many of them DM me on facebook, twitter,instagram and whatsapp asking what they could do to succeed in the music industry.
The success of any musical product depends more on what is done outside the recording or production studio. It is what happens before song is released or made available to the public that determines how acceptable the product will be.
The basic things that need to be done before a song is released include;
# 1. Pay attention to your song
There are 1000 errors in every musical content. An error in quality,quantity,message, concept, presentation, etc that needs to be fixed. These errors could be noticed when the product is properly examined. The more you listen to your song over and over again, the better chances you've to erase a better percentage of these errors.
Ensure you scrutinize your energy, delivery, production and every aspect of your musical content. Do well to get the views of some professionals. This will give room for improvement and to place some vital final touches on your product to further enhance its quality.
# 2. Have Good Marketing Materials
I always tell my clients that **nobody fans poverty**. If you must succeed in the industry, you must appear financially buoyant. Artistes don't rock expensive jewelries for fun or because they are not financially matured, they buy those because the market appreciates their crafts the more when they dress so.
Some of the materials that get the heart of your fans wet even while they anticipate your song includes;
a. Professional Studio Pictures
b. Quality Graphic Designs (cover arts)
c. Count Down Arts and Videos etc.
With these, your fans will ever be ready to receive your new song. Once they buy into your marketing materials, they buy into you. And once they love your person, they automatically become your fans.
# 3. Have a Creative and Unique Marketing Strategy
How a song is being promoted has a vital role to play. Just before you device a unique means for your promotion, consider the market. Is your song for everyone? Of course that is not possible. Thus define your market and a possible way to reach out to them. How to sell a product to a man in the street is totally different from how you sell to a CEO of a multinational company.
