In today's lesson, I want us to consider one of the important areas in the curriculum of education that seek to build teachers capacity in their course of teaching, that is **"In-service training."** Aside teachers normal duties of their own research and findings to broaden their knowledge, the curriculum developers and implementers did well by fixing in-service training in the curriculum. We ask ourselves, how many teachers after completion of their normal teacher training colleges make advance research and findings to broaden their knowledge? Though most teachers further their educational courses and in the course of their career in teacher make few additions to support their teaching, but that isn't enough for building them up. Studies also show that as one is ageing further learning becomes difficult. So in such cases, teachers need to be prompted to move from their comfort zones, since things begin to change with time.

We understand why in-service training is fused or built in the curriculum of education. As new things begin to evolve, the teaching trends have to be modified to suit modern teaching and learning. We will admit that the 20th century syllabus isn't what is used now in this 21st  century. The simple reason being that technology has improved with lots of things that can't be assessed with the old equipment, hence, the need to improve our ways of handling data. In the same way, some of these old teachers have learnt their course over twenty years ago. New curriculum, such as topics, syllabus contents, policies and additions of courses have been affected. The teachers have to receive training in some of these changes before they can handle them well. 


The in-service training remind teachers of their past experiences they have acquired and bring them to the new content. The in-service training boost their confident level of have they might have forgotten in their teaching career. It makes them regain fresh knowledge to teach what they are expected to teach, direct and guide them of what the new curriculum require them to do.  We are in the technological World where every thing is base on the use of internet and computer for assessing, receiving, storing and  retrieving  information. The only thing for these old teachers to be familiarize with the way of handling these tools are administering  workshop for them in order for them to be trained. In this case, we ask ourselves that what would be the state of teaching and learning where in-service training is not organise for teachers? It's obvious that students would be lacking a lot new knowledge with time.  More information would be shutdown from knowing them. Those areas would move at low pace of technology impacted in other areas.
