 רציתי להמשיך ולהוסיף עוד כמה טיפים:

אחד הדברים שהייתי חייב ללמוד בדחיפות כדי לקבל את הכבוד שאני מצפה לו מהבן שלי זה לעמוד על שלי בלי לוותר.
למשל, במקרה אחד שיצאתי איתו מהקניון והיה לו שקית ביד עם ממתקי שוקולד הוא אכל ממתק אחד עם עטיפה ואז החליט לזרוק את העטיפה לרצפה. זה עצבן אותי מאד ואמרתי לעצמי שאני לא יכול לוותר כאן למרות שמיהרתי אז לכן עצרתי ובקשתי ממנו יפה שירים ויזרוק לפח שהיה ממש קרוב.  הוא כמובן סרב ואמר את צמד המילים ה"אהוב" על כולנו "לא באלי" לאחר כמה ניסיונות להעלות את הטונים ועוד סירובים עקשניים שלו התחלתי להיות יותר יצירתי ושיניתי גישה בניסיון שכנוע בזה שהראיתי לו בדלים של סיגריה שגם היו ב"מקרה" ברצפה ואמרתי לו שיסתכל ויראה מה אנשים אחרים עושים וכמה זה לא יפה ומלוכלך ואז ששאלתי אותו אם הוא רוצה להיות כמו האנשים הלא נחמדים האלה פתאם נכנס לו לראש שזה לא כדאי ומיד הסכים להרים את העטיפה.  הזמן הזה שהתעכבתי היה שווה כל כרגע מול ההרגשה של ההצלחה שזה נותן.

במקרה אחר שישבנו ביחד לארוחת ערב עם המשפחה והוא היה מוכן לעשות הכל חוץ מלאכול כולל משחקים עם האוכל, עם הצלחות ובלגן באופן כללי,  ראיתי כבר מראש שלהגיד לו שיפסיק בטונים גבוהים לא יעזור פה אז החלטתי ללכת בגישה של אולטימטום: אמרתי לו בצורה רצינית שאם הוא לא רוצה לאכול איתנו שלא יאכל ושילך לשחק וממש שחררתי אותו מהארוחה, כמו כן אמרתי לו שאם הוא רוצה לשבת איתנו ולאכול אז הוא צריך לשבת יפה, לאכול ולא לשחק.  הוא כמובן לא אהב את ההצעה הזאת בהתחלה כי הוא העדיף לשבת איתנו ולהמשיך בשלו אבל ברגע שנתתי לו אולטימטום אחרי כמה דקות שהוא נרגע פתאום החליט שכדאי לו דווקא לשבת ולאכול והכל היה בסדר.

In another case when we sat together for dinner with the family and he was willing to do anything but eat, including games with food, with plates and mess in general, I saw in advance that telling him to stop in high tones would not help here so I decided to take an ultimatum approach: I also told him that if he wanted to sit down with us and eat, he had to sit down nicely, eat and not play. Of course he did not like this offer at first because he preferred to sit with us and continue with his own, but the moment I gave him an ultimatum after a few minutes he suddenly calmed down and decided that he should actually sit and eat and everything was fine.
