About a week ago I announced that I will be doing a tipping test on Whaleshares to see how it works in HF4 environment. This means that I would transfer my all Daily Vesting Rewards to the tip jar and begin tipping posts in Arts and Music category. The purpose of my test was to find out how people will react to tipping. Will some tip and others not? Will people reciprocate?

So every day for 7 days in a row I would claim my Daily Vesting Rewards and transfer all of them to the tip jar. With my @organduo account I would receive ca. 510 WLS every day and with my @cryptobillion account I would receive ca. 460 WLS every day. I would tip the posts in the Arts category from my @organduo account and posts in the Music category - from my @cryptobillion account.

Each post tipped most often would receive 50 WLS until I run out of WLS and the last post to be tipped for that day would receive less. It doesn't mean this last post was worse than others, it just means I ran out of WLS in my tipping jar. Some of the beginning tips are very small because I was just testing how the system works.

Note: this test only involved tipping and not commenting. I almost didn't comment on other people's posts because my time was very limited for my Whaleshares activities during this week. I only answered comments that I received on my own posts.

# What do these results tell me?

The results tell me one thing - more people are willing to receive than to give. In @organduo case - less than 1 out of 2 tips were reciprocated. In @cryptobillion case - more than 1 out of 5 tips were reciprocated.

Of course, I don't count here specific people who reciprocated. Just a general percentage. Also I never expected people's amount tipped to match mine because I am a large stakeholder on Whaleshares. Other people simply don't receive that much in their Daily Vesting Rewards.

Since I almost didn't comment on other people's posts during that time, perhaps the results might have been different if I did, because I would have continued building relationships with other people. Time was very limited for my Whaleshares activities so I chose not to. Besides, this was my Tipping Test and not Comment Test.

# Going forward

There are 3 questions that need to be answered from my test:

1. Should I continue tipping others like I did with this test and grow my accounts only from the tips I receive?

2. If I continue tipping others, should I transfer ALL my Daily Vesting Rewards to the tip jar or only a certain percentage?

3. If so, what percentage would best be allocated to tipping?

What do you think? What the best practice would be?

I know it's only the beginning stages of this new tipping feature on Whaleshares and a lot of people are still figuring things out.

Since I'm a large stakeholder on Whaleshares, should I consider it as a charity and shouldn't keep any rewards for myself OR since I'm a large investor on Whaleshares as well (I bought most of my stake there), I have the right to receive at least some of the ROI? Of course, this ROI will not be anywhere near the ROI that pre-HF4 and especially pre-HF3.
