Geological Eras of the Earth🌎 - The Creation + Drawings #1 | #WeekOfTheEarth
As we all know, **the Earth is millions of years old**. At first this place was similar to hell. This molten mass will become home to innumerable species.

But generating life on such a planet will require a chain of events that defy the laws of probability. Nobody knows exactly when or where life began, but it could not happen without water.

<div class='pull-right'>https://steemitimages.com/DQmXDrzpp5XP98KVKxeyYUJTi71UwAdemd7NLW1AEfbRDNQ/1.jpg</div>

The Earth evolved with the passage of time, but a very long time. We speak of approximately 4600 million years.

So, for more understanding I wanted to make this post in ***Earth Day*** with drawings made by me, with markers and I used Photoshop in lighting effects to simulate the outer space and the atmosphere.

I had already commented that our planet was formed 4,600 million years ago scientists, developed a geological time scale to better understand the stages by which the planet Earth had to pass. From the beginning to the present our planet Earth is divided into 4 large **Eons**.

> **What are Eones?**
It is a geochronological unit, it only measures time. They are the largest geologic time divisions in the history of the Earth. (Ma = million years ago)

---

## Hadean (4600 Ma - 4000 Ma)

> It is the first geological temporal scale division of the Precambrian supereon. It begins just when the planet Earth was formed 4,600 million years ago. It is considered an informal time scale since not enough evidence has been obtained. Probably in this period the solar system was still forming.

<div class='pull-left'>https://steemitimages.com/DQmWLGwVn23r7ykcCPisK9T1xjrAJFvj39MnnFerrVpGx2t/2.jpg</div>

In this period the Earth suffered several cataclysms, forming a thick toxic cloud. The planet is covered by a cloud of lethal acids.

The Earth seemed destined to harbor no life, but that changed when a huge asteroid named Thea hit the Earth, both melted into a whole new world. 4,500 million years ago the temperature was so high that the surface of the planet was an ocean of molten material.

But it began to cool little by little. 4400 million years ago the age of the Earth was 200 million years ago, meteorites continued to impact the planet, with a resource that would bring life to our planet. Small puddles of water formed on the rocky surface of the planet.

<div class='pull-right'>https://steemitimages.com/DQmauxnbFssZLpVsvkdNFZMbXGoKbWAZa8W6our3ToRv4R9/3.jpg</div>

As the planet cooled, the rocks on the surface released tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), this process produced water vapor.

The water vapor rose and joined the carbon dioxide, forming thick clouds that covered everything. This condensation would unleash the greatest flood that the earth has suffered.

---

## Archean (4000 Ma - 2500 Ma)

<div class='pull-left'>https://steemitimages.com/DQmRCvNkMeGQaLfom7X31eRcgGRBhmR8TBEaznR8VHgzSL2/4.jpg</div>

The Earth was already 500 years old. Storms lashed the skies, the rain began to fall on the earth's surface for millions of years.

More than 90% of the planet was a giant greenish ocean, because of its iron richness. Small volcanic islands poked between the waves.

This toxic, suffocating and uninhabitable world would last another 500 million years. The heat flow was 3 times higher than today (more than 90° C).

---

Then, a crucial transformation began. The volcanic activity reappeared considerably to trigger the creation of the continents from the appearance of a new type of rock, the Earth was about to become a granite planet.

<center>![5.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmceYGDqDXCRAVcZzJ7sesfpVs5WGK2HvnaAXh3LGjY3Py/5.jpg)</center>

Over the next 2 billion years, the granite proto-continents grew at a slow but steady rate. Not only would they change the appearance of the planet, the shallow coasts would fill with life the surface bathed by the sun and help trigger the production of oxygen.

<div class='pull-right'>https://steemitimages.com/DQmcigXBv5nUgkJa2hX2By6ME71g9sUpNmHwCnHmRTcUrgz/6.jpg</div>

Deep under the waves, living from the heat produced by the submarine volcanic fissures are **the stromatolites**.

The stromatolite was nourished by sunlight and filled the atmosphere with oxygen, a process known as photosynthesis.

Over time, oxygen completely transformed the planet. The oxygen reached the atmosphere diluted the remains of carbon dioxide and clean the air.

<center>![7.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbGHNdjXdwHLK4Q4LL6iTqmaZjncX7XdaZcDvw8pTv5NP/7.jpg)</center>

This is how the first million years of the earth went by, and there is still a long way to go...

Very interesting the subject, has been very original, with drawings about the formation of the earth. It is a detailed explanation of the first phases of the earth.

I am pretty confused about this that whether all of these theories are correct or not. Most of the theories are based on imaginations I guess.

@sooflauschig ·
Great intro into the first few million years of the Earth.

There is one thing I would like to add:
You mentioned the formation of stromatolites deep beneath the waves. The organisms flourishing at volcanic vents are others.
Stromatolites formed and still form in shallow marine environments where they can absorb the required sunlight.

Here is a picture of recent Stromatolites at Shark Bay in Australia:
