The London Stock Exchange (LSE) was late with the opening bell today.  They suffered a blackout due to a 'technical software' issue, the last one was seven years ago in 2011.  The outage prevented traders from accessing the pre open auction system.

There has been no other explanation for the outage other than the generic 'software' issue.  Many traders were sceptical, Mike Van Dulken the head of research at Accendo Markets said "The longer they stay silent with a vague technical issue reason, the more curious people will be.  We want the blame to be apportioned to something or someone, we'd like to know exactly what it was and put it to bed.

Doron Pinhas the chief technology officer at IT infrastructure company Continuity Software said "A single glitch would not have resulted in this full meltdown for one hour".  He believes that the system backups did not kick in and the outage may indicate that there is a systemic vulnerability.

It is scary to think what a large scale power interruption can really to to interrupt society. Things could get scary in a skinny minute!

Yes it is.  You probably have a leg up where you are.  I am not too knowledgeable about Samar but I am guessing you have areas that are rural and somewhat off the grid.

During a disaster on a global scale, I believe Samar (or many places in the Philippines) would be a good place to be. The filipino people are resourceful and resilient and know how to survive. Outside the large metro areas, many live with limited electrictry and no water and get by on a daily basis just fine. Life would be rough for most westerners under a major scenario, but to many filipinos, it would just be a minor inconvenience. Most of us would be complaining about our direct deposits being affected while some of the more serious complaints from filipinos would be having no fan! lol
