Wednesday Walk Shots, Thoughts and a Poem

"Oh! It's Wednesday!" I said to my dog when I had taken but a few steps out my front door en route to tending my flock. Back into the house I went for my phone, which serves as my camera. In the spirit of @tattoodjay's #wednesdaywalk, here are a few shots and a few thoughts to go with them.

This particular blossum, this very one of a great many like it that I have, has made its way into my #wednesdaywalk posts a few times. It overhangs my front sidewalk and is often my first photograph of the day. I would normally have cut it and many of the other blossums months ago - in August when the blooms are a lovely chartreuse - for my annual dried hydrangea bouquet.  Today I was so happy I had not gotten around to it. 

Thank goodness I could not walk for the past three months, eh? It's those little unexpected blessings...

I am obsessed with what my dwarf red maple did this fall. The leaves neither turned their usual vibrant red, nor did they fall, leaving me instead with a mass of color that I would love to paint a room in. What would Benjamin Moore call that color? Pale Puce?

Today was not the first time I thought I saw butterflies on my spirea. Can you see them?

This is my Wilma. I wrote a [freewrite about her](https://steempeak.com/freewrite/@owasco/wilma-a-freewrite) yesterday. Poor Wilma is experiencing some feebleness due to her advanced age. She falls on her face a lot while careening around the run at high speeds, like a drunk trying to catch their balance. It's not easy to catch a shot of a chicken careening around like a drunk. Today I finally managed it.

I have been unable to find words to describe what that hydrangea looks like to me, but I love it too. A fairyland of some sort. I like the word "lace". An inviting crystalline lace I would like to be a tiny fairy sunning myself on it. something like that.

Fabulous ice crystals on dried hydrangea blossoms - and I did not laugh at poor Wilma walking like a drunk - poor Wilma! I can't even say "at least she's ONLY a chicken," because she is loved like a human. What a personality - and what a great collection of stories and photos!
