Los fin de semana si el clima lo permite con mi esposa nos dedicamos a realizar tareas de jardinería en nuestra casa. Si bien tenemos varias especies de plantas, hay una que que nos encantan tener, las suculentas.

> On the weekends, if the weather permits with my wife, we dedicate ourselves to gardening in our house. While we have several species of plants, there is one that we love to have, the succulent ones.

Comenzamos teniendo algunas pocas especies, pero con el correr del tiempo nos han ido regalando gajos, los cuales fuimos cuidando y a medida que fueron creciendo también las hemos ido reproduciendo.

Para decidir su ubicación estuvimos buscando información sobre las necesidades y cuidados que debemos tener en cuenta de estas bellísimas plantas que aportan un toque singular sea en jardines al aire libre o en el interior de nuestras casas.

> To decide its location we were looking for information on the needs and care that we must take into account of these beautiful plants that provide a unique touch either in outdoor gardens or inside our houses.

Si bien estas plantas tienen ciertos cuidados que uno debe tener en general son muy resistentes y no precisan de un suelo muy fértil para desarrollarse.

 - Sus hojas y tallos son más gruesos (carnosos) que el común de las plantas ya que allí almacenas agua lo cual las convierte en plantas sumamente resistentes a las seguías. No necesita ser regadas todos los días; el exceso de agua podría matarlas
 - Necesitan abundante luz, aunque no toleran muchas horas de exposición al sol directo. La exposición excesiva las quema (deshidrata) dándoles un color rojizo a sus hojas). Si por el contrario su color verde se torna pálido es probable que estén necesitando más luz.
 - Respecto al suelo, no necesitan que esté especialmente nutrido ya que crecen en prácticamente en cualquier suelo. A nosotros nos funciona bastante bien tenerlas en tierra negra (orgánica), con mezcla de piedras y arena lo cual le aporta un buen drenaje.
 - Por el agua que almacenan en su interior no soportan heladas (temperaturas inferiores a 0º), por lo cual en la ciudad en que vivo las entramos al interior de la casa o bien le construimos una especie de invernadero con nylon transparente.
 - Su reproducción es muy sencilla y crece por gajos. Si se arranca una pequeña ramita y la ponemos en tierra debería prender perfectamente. Nosotros lo que hacemos es sacar el gajito y ponerlo en agua un día y después si a tierra.

>  - Regarding the soil, they do not need to be especially nourished since they grow in virtually any soil. It works quite well for us to have them in black (organic) soil, with a mixture of stones and sand, which provides good drainage.
>  - Because of the water they store inside, they can't stand frost (temperatures below 0º), so in the city where I live we enter them inside the house or we build a kind of greenhouse with transparent nylon.
>  - Its reproduction is very simple and grows by segments. If you start a small twig and put it on the ground it should light perfectly. What we do is take out the gajito and put it in water one day and then if grounded.
