 I am a bit tired today to go into a great amount of detail about this song.  But I'd like to just say that it is one of the closest songs to my heart, of all that I've written.  It is the first song I ever played on stage, and that was at the Bluebird Cafe in 2001, if I'm not mistaking the year.  

About week after that day I got an e-mail from a lady somewhere in Georgia saying that she saw me sing and she tracked me down via my website and wanted to say that she liked my song.   That really meant the world to me that someone would do that.   It's one of the single tiniest little most important things that has inspired me, both musically and also in my personal life.   

I say that as if my music life and my personal life are different entities.  That isn't true at all.   I'm so ridiculously off center in my thinking sometimes.

This song was played on NPR's "All Songs Considered" many years ago.  You can hear my spoken intro to it on their webpage, where the feature still sits.  I figured after all this time they'd delete their old content, but no.   It's still alive.  My little song.  I recorded it in my closet so I wouldn't disturb my neighbors at the time.   

Closet recordings were a big thing in my life.  In most places where I lived in my 20's, being too loud would result in angry knocks on the walls from the other side.  

But it's okay.  Sometimes, singing in a closet will later transport you straight onto the airwaves of public radio.    Try doing it yourself.   Maybe you'll have some luck, too.   If I can get there, anyone can.   

I apologize for not posting the lyrics just yet.  I am just not in the mood to go look them up.
